Us and Vs don't always cause whip by themselves, but they can often add to the whip in a stick, especially when you consider how people string their sticks nowadays with channel pockets. Not everyone used Vs for more hold and whip, but MANY did.

In this case, there is a correlation, and causation, although you may choose not see it. I proved my case above, I'd love to see a more thorough argument from you to back up the above comment!

I agree with it being the stick. I only use straights mostly because I have a custom stick but it throws better and higher passes then when I had Us or Vs in my stick.

I've only watched the Syracuse scrimmages so far with the new rules, but can agree with what you're saying about the passes and attributing that to sticks. What I noticed more than anything for all 3 teams were plenty of passes and shots very high. Based on my own very novice pocket knowledge, my guess is these are mostly in very quick wind up and move the ball situations, causing the ball to sit higher in the pocket that it used to. With the same release point, this will cause the ball to go way higher than you intend.

It's not across the board, but I think it'd mostly be with guys who had a very low V that kept the ball in place during the windup, but the ball now shifts up. Just some food for thought...
