2015 MLL Predictions – Week 6

I am having a hard time stomaching my current trend of going 2-2 with my picks most weeks. .500 is fine if you play baseball, but I don’t play baseball. So I need to step my game up for Week 6 of Major League Lacrosse action, and improve on this 9-8 picking record I’ve amassed so far.

Before we get to the Week 6 Predictions, let’s recap Week 5 via the Top 10 Plays of the Week, because they’re awesome.

Top 10 Plays – Week 5

Ok, now let’s get to the Week 6 games, and try to predict who’s coming up roses when it coms to pro lax wins!

2015 MLL Predictions – Week 6

Chesapeake @ New YorkSaturday, May 16th, 5pm – I like NY to continue to generate a couple extra possessions per game, but in this case, it could be a little more extreme. Face offs should heavily favor the Lizards, and their offense should put away more than enough goals to win here. It’s my most rock solid pick of the week. I should not have written that. Watch New York lose now. Called it.

Denver @ Florida – Saturday, May 16th, 7pm – I’ll take Denver in this one, but you know Florida is hungry for another win. They avoided 0-4 with a win last week, but if there is any let down, Denver will take advantage, so I’ll go with the Outlaws in this one to get back above .500. Denver should be a lot more dangerous when the rest of their players join the roster, but they’re still plenty dangerous now.

Charlotte @ Ohio – Saturday, May 16th, 7pm – Ohio is better when everyone is involved on offense, and Charlotte seems guaranteed to put up between 9 and 12 goals in any game. This is a toss up game between two 1-3 teams, and it will be hotly contested. I’ll take the Machine at home, and I’m sure Wade Leaphart (the Hounds VP and GM) will give me heat for this on Twitter. Bring it on, Wade! Now Charlotte’s going to win. I need to stop making predictions. This league is just too damn hard to call sometimes! Ok, final pick. Ohio? Ohio…. yeah, Ohio.

Rochester @ BostonSunday, May 17th, 6pm – Rochester seems resurgent, and my gut says to pick them, so I’ll go with the Cannons instead. After that CHA Vs OHIO pick, I’m totally shook. Boston has a two way middie approach that they are twerking on, and I think this is the game where it really starts to click. Please let this be the game. To beat Galloway and ROCH, it will have to work!

LongStickMiddie.com Play of the Week

I have been helping out a little bit with picking this play of the week for LongStickMiddie.com, and it’s been fun to look for great plays between the lines each week. If you see something worthy of being an LSM play of the week, tweet your nomination to me (@ConnorWilsonLAS) and @LongStickMiddie!

I love that the #2 and #3 plays were goals, but that the #1 play was a super slick endline GB and face dodge! Goals are good, but so is other stuff! FACT.

Attendance Notes

Franchise – 2015 Attendance Average
Denver – 5,925 (same)
Chesapeake – 4,689 (+50)
New York – 4,529 (+429)
Boston – 4,203 (same)
Ohio – 2,273 (same)
Charlotte – 2,091 (-185)
Florida – 1,700 (-173)
Rochester – 1,122 (-60)

I’m not sure how four teams hosted games, but five teams home totals changed, since last week, but it may have to do with delayed stat info on attendance numbers after week 4. Either way, NY is really doing well on a pretty consistent basis, but Florida and Rochester are struggling a bit. Boston is doing well to get 4,000+ fans, but they are at Gilette Stadium, and will definitely want to improve on those gate numbers.
