I clicked the like button on your post, because it's just true.

I also just checked out the site for this event, and noticed that it's free- helps with saving up for those 4 years of private school tuition/DIII athletics. I think HS kids have enough time to be good students and athletes. Maybe this session will help them with their AP statistics homework?

Fred –

I totally understand your comment but just wanted to clarify -- the reference to NFL and NBA combines was
just an analogy to the sporting combine event itself. There is no intention in the article or any insinuation that
the lacrosse combines are the first step to a pro lacrosse career. Rather, at least one of the intentions
of the lacrosse combines is to obtain a scientifically generated skills
assessment and which can be used as part of a lacrosse player’s application to
collegiate programs or as part of their recruitment plan.

No implication should be gleaned from the article that
participation at lax combine or the results from the lax combine put a player
on the path to a full scholarship.
The overriding objective of the combine is to provide the athlete with
information pertaining to strengths and weaknesses so the athlete can continue
to develop and focus on areas needing improvement. It is the hope that this information allows the athlete to
improve at the sport and generate collegiate interest – while at the same time
continuing to focus on academics.

I agree with Fred that getting a athletic scholarship is a dream and the student athlete is just that a student first and an athlete second. My son just received a 40% scholarship for lacrosse DII and it was all acedemic. The thing is that grades are the most important thing because it allows the coaches to get you money for sports. The thing is that the competition in sports is getting hard and hard and a student athlete need the edge to break through to the next level. Thats why we believe that this type of test can break down what his weakness id to the finite level.

#1) What you failed to disclose is unlike football and basketball, full rides are rare in college lacrosse. Maybe, you'll get a partial (if lucky), better off hitting the books and pulling down some academic scholarships ( which are FAR more prevalent).

#2) Both football and basketball have a professional league which promises beaucoup bucks for those athletes blessed with ability to perform at that level. Contrary to this is lacrosse. The pro leagues pay small salaries, players must work oustide jobs in the real world, which makes it even more important to work on hard on your academics.
