No more air bubbles in my athletic shoes. I’m tired of popping Nike Air bubbles. 9 times out of 10 the bubbles pop before I wear the shoes out. Sure, it looks cool and feels good early on, but it’s not worth it if I have to shell out extra money for the bubbles and then have to also buy shoes more often. Good for Nike, but bad for me. Air Bubbles are done for this guy.

Major League Lacrosse has announced that every team in the league has submitted its 23-Man Protected Roster for 2014. The MLL also sent out the rosters for the 8 teams. Teams are granted a 40-man roster leading into the season, and they can fill those remaining 17 spots with supplemental draft picks, college draft picks, and trades, before the start of the 2014 campaign.
A little less than two weeks ago, we teased you with some quick highlights from a NYC vs. Philadelphia box lacrosse game. This week, we’ve got the full video from Throne of String, and it’s a good one! Plenty of action, and some pretty sweet goals, saves, draws, and even some big hits.
Before Major League Lacrosse, the USCLA was by far and away the top post-collegiate field lacrosse league in the world. Teams ranged from up and down the East Coast, and the number of legendary players to grace the USCLA is unrivaled.
Since the fall ball season is wrapping up, I figured it would be a good time to reach out to see how the boys at Brown University are doing. Brown hosted some pretty unique scrimmages this fall, let’s see what’s going on with the Bears.
Photo Credit: Pat Colleluori, HEADstrong I was fortunate enough to get time to talk with the HEADstrong foundation, specifically about their Lax Stache Madness campaign. Pat Colleluori Jr. was kind enough to take his time to answer any questions we could come up with about their foundation, the campaign, and the progression of HEADstrong. Pat is the HEADstrong director of development and a brother of Nick Colleluori, the Hofstra lacrosse player who lost his battle with large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a blood…
Last Thursday, I threw it back to the 80′s, showing the highlights of the Aldephi lacrosse program, specifically when they took down Harvard. It looks like the passion for lacrosse didn’t stop there, we were informed by big Gordon himself that there is another Gordon Purdie on the scene. His son, Gordon, is a 2015 product, tearing up the sport out in New York.
Even though a good deal of the local NYC box lacrosse talent was in Hawaii last weekend, LaxAllStars still put together a solid squad of guys to make the early morning trek down to Philadelphia, to take on a local club, the Athletics, in a good old-fashioned game of box lacrosse.
A couple weeks back, Andrew Ratzke reviewed the classic Proton Power, and had the usual issues with the stick (a tad flimsy, and tough to string), so as soon as I got my hands on a NEW Proton Power by STX, I had to see if any improvements had been made. Is the head tougher? Is it easier to string? If the answer to those two questions is yes, the Proton Power will take a big step up in the ratings department.
We’ve got even more GREAT video from GetBenched! Check them out on YouTube and subscribe for more great old school box lacrosse video content! GetBenched has delivered some superb video in the past, and I love the old MILL promo videos, as well as this 1975 game, also featuring the Philadelphia Wings.
The 2014 lacrosse season is really just around the corner, and to get you even more excited, we got some more highlights from Mike Perrino. A couple weeks he wowed us with goals on goals, and then he made a new video and addd in some big hits, some great face offs, and a bunch more top notch goals… and now he’s back with Highlight number 3!
Thomas Graham is a short stick player for the Bayswater Lacrosse Club, located outside of Perth, Western Australia. Graham is also a member of the 2014 Australian National Team, and will be representing his country in Denver this Summer.
Gordon Purdie is the Head Coach at NCAA D2 Adelphi, and a YouTube user with the same name uploaded a great video featuring Adelphi Lacrosse from the 1980s. We can only assume it’s the same guy! Either way, the video is awesome, and well worth a watch or two.
Welcome to another fantastic #TraditionalThursday! This week we’ve got a couple newly strung heads for you to check out, and a fun thing you can start doing with all of your excess string. Let’s get right to it!
The Lacrosse All Stars #StringItForward campaign is off to a fast start. At our first clinic, in conjunction with Harlem Lacrosse & Leadership (LAS non-profit partner), we taught 35 young lacrosse players in Harlem how to string sticks and/or how to improve their pre-existing stringing abilities!

Some college lacrosse programs have a YouTube page just for the team, and then there is Notre Dame. NDLaxTV takes college lacrosse video to the next level on a pretty regular basis, and The Irish offer up training tools, drills, video from games, short documentaries, and more. But their latest project? It’s another big step up, and in the right direction.
The most recent LXM PRO event went down in Atlanta over the weekend, and Team STX came away with the 18-16 win over Maverik United. Maverik held a five goal lead in the fourth quarter, but fell apart at the seams as STX scored 8 straight goals to take the lead, and then hang on for the W. In a little over 10 minutes, STX went from losing 15-10, to winning 18-15.
Larry Palumbo took in the recent scrimmages between Scotland, Adelphi, and Stony Brook. It’s clear that the English aren’t the only ones testing themselves against top notch college competition, even if they are doing a GREAT job of promotion!
It’s only fall ball, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for some excellent fall ball video! BHSVideoDad is back at it, and covers the big boys from D1 as they play a fall event in Kezar Stadium at the 2013 Fall Classic in San Francisco, CA.
