The Thompson Trio is certainly well-known in the lacrosse world at this point. But are they the most exciting players since Mike Powell donned #22 at Syracuse? Kyle Harrison seems to think so!

Ever heard of Dude Perfect? It’s basically a group of five guys doing insanely awesome tricks and stunts, filming these antics, and posting them to YouTube. But maybe antics isn’t the right word, because the tricks Dude Perfect pulls off are extremely impressive, and these five friends have amassed quite a following on following on YouTube – over 2.4 million subscribers to be exact. And hey, they just used a lacrosse goalie stick in one of their recent videos, Nerf Sports Edition.
In honor of me traveling to the East Coast this week and there being snow on the ground when I look outside, here’s an awesome tweet and photo from Notre Dame assistant coach Gerry Byrne from their game against Ohio State.
Welcome to a Throwback Spotted! We have found some YouTube footage of Dallas Eliuk, an NLL Hall of Fame goalie who played most of his career with the Philadelphia Wings, as a contestant on The Price Is Right, of course hosted by the legendary Barker.
While Twitter is usually a place for sharing news and links, it can also facilitate great conversations, 140 characters at a time. Such a conversation occurred surrounding one of Connor’s recent Hot Pot articles, which discussed the “Specialization Problem” and proposed a rule to fix it. Faceoff Academy cofounder Jerry Ragonese was part of the conversation, and had this particularly standout tweet.
50 First Dates is a romantic comedy about how Adam Sandler’s character falls in love with Drew Barrymore’s character. The catch is that Barrymore’s character has short-term memory loss, and forgets who Sandler is each morning. Overall, I think it’s just a fun movie to watch, but did you know that Barrymore gets to smack Sandler with a lacrosse stick in the movie?
There are a lot of camps and clinics for lacrosse nowadays, not to mention a ton of recruiting camps. If you’re interested in a new event that looks to be a truly elite one, make sure to read Connor’s interview with Adrenaline about their Black Card Showcase and Platinum Cup. But if you just want to know how to teach the game the right way in general, then look no further than the Beast for wisdom:
Last week we had a spotting from NBC’s Community, and this week we have a spotting from another NBC TV show: Parenthood. Shout out to Claudia with this week’s spotting!
Goalies are incredibly important in lacrosse, and sometimes they just don’t get the love they deserve. As an attackman, I know that I’ve given out a few stingers and shots and rides. As long as it’s not a penalty, that’s just good hard play, but when it’s your own goalie, you need to give him props. In the end, you can’t play without a goalie, he’s your last line defense, and game after game he takes a beating.
Back in January, lacrosse was spotted on the TV show Community. I’m not quite sure what was happening in the episode, which appears to be “Geothermal Escapism,” the fifth episode of the show’s fifth season. Thanks to reader Jeff for the tip!
Virginia vs. Syracuse is always one of of the games I circle on the calendar every season. The teams are perennial powerhouses in lacrosse, and their matchup is always entertaining. This year the game has more meaning with Syracuse joining the ACC, making it the first conference game between the Cavaliers and the Orange. There’s no other way to describe this one besides epic.
It’s fairly well known that longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is a lacrosse guy. His daughter is the head coach for Wesleyan’s women’s program, and she as well as Bill himself played their college ball at Wesleyan. This week, Peter Baum tweeted a photo of Belichick wearing a Johns Hopkins lacrosse sweatshirt at the NFL Combine.
Of course the big news last week was that Adrenaline and LXM PRO had reached an agreement with Major League Lacrosse. There was a wide range of reactions to this, though the majority of people seem excited about the potential this deal has for impacting the growth of the game. Greg “Beast” Gurenlian, one of MLL’s best face-off men, had this hilarious comment about the MLL and LXM deal, and the possibility of Kyle Harrison’s return to the MLL.
Earlier this week we were tipped off by reader Travis that Keith Olbermann brought up an NLL game during his show on ESPN. A little bit after that, the Rochester Knighthawks posted this photo on Instagram:
With the 2013-2014 LXM PRO season having wrapped up a few weeks ago with a final stop in Los Angeles, the 2014 NCAA lacrosse season now underway, STX becoming an official Major League Lacrosse partner, and now Adrenaline and LXM PRO joining forces with the MLL, I can’t help but wonder who the next LXM star will be.
