Guess who’s back with a brand new edition? It’s Monday and that means music and, in this case, the return of Dutch DJ Martin Garrix to LAS! We first featured Garrix last summer on Those Pesky Kids II and since then, he has not disappointed. Besides crushing every EDM festival that’s been thrown his way, […]

Music Monday: Long Miles

I am excited to report my first sun burn of 2014 here in New England! The sun is making the effort to bless our midday lax games and temperatures are stabbing at 70 degrees on really, really good days. I’m already imagining board shorts and plastic shades…the anticipation of summer is more exciting than ever given the harsh, windy, snowy winter we’ve had here in the nation’s northeast.

College Lacrosse Featured in Key Concussion Study

Ohio State vs UMass mens lacrosse

College lacrosse and accelerometers are finally coming together on a large scale. A study launched at Sacred Heart University is monitoring head impacts with accelerometers for the entire season. Along with the sensor data, the study will utilize neurocognitive measures (tests of thinking and memory), IQ scores, mood assessments, and drug dependency screens to compare to impact data and any diagnosed concussions. Many of these factors have been shown to change after a concussion, and this study will examine how changes are linked to cumulative head forces as well, measured by the helmet sensors.

Music Monday – Keepin’ It Old Timey

I am not sure if it’s the pollen, the running snow melt, or the fresh green shoots sprouting from the ground but for some reason, spring always gets me thinking of bluegrass, folk, and general finger-pickin’ goodness. Perhaps the memory of long, straight drives through central Oregon listening to Doc & Dawg with my father […]

Music Monday: Laid Back Lions

I hope everyone across the LAS universe, near and far, is having a wonderful Monday and enjoyed a solid weekend of lax. Here in the states, it seems like just about everyone is hitting a bout of bad weather. That being said, today’s featured album is one with which you can kick back and relax tonight as the storms howl away outside.
