I think there's only a couple schools that actually support their lacrosse team. The rest are self-funded clubs. The only thing that's prohibiting the sport from growing faster in Louisiana is lack of people willing to coach.

I can really only speak for Dutchtown, though. The school is kind enough to let us run morning announcements for signup, and we can use the Dutchtown Stadium for home games, but only when none of the varsity teams are using. That works out ok because no one really uses the stadium in the spring.

As far as the football coaches go, I've been told that at Dutchtown, the football coaches pick on the lacrosse players a lot for playing lacrosse. Yes, that makes me irate for a million different reasons, but I'll save my words and let lax speak for itself.

Are all those schools (and the ones you didn't mention from Shreveport) fielding varsity teams? If so, I'm totally impressed with your rate of growth and want to know if you have any tips. Back in Northern Virginia about (ahem) 20-25 years ago, we got things started big-time by getting the football coaches onboard - but they ain't havin' none of that over hee-ah in 'Bama. And that's really odd to me, as the AD at my high school (TJHSST) was a former lineman for Auburn! Haha!
