NCAA needs to negotiate some hotel rates for fans who plan on attending for the whole weekend. Hotel rooms that were going for $99 to $129 per night 3 years ago when the finals were last in Foxboro now were running $169 to $219 a night for small hotels that were 30 minutes from the stadium. Then you add in the ridiculously high prices for food at the stadium ($6 for a soda and $5 for a bottle of water or an ice cream cone, really?) and you are not allowed to bring in your own drinks and food, and it becomes cost prohibitive for most people to do the whole weekend. The tickets are actually the best value of them all and if you factored in the stupid parking pass costs in Baltimore the last two years, the price for tickets and parking combined actually went down this year.

Just an example, I take my 2 boys and 5 friends each year and the total cost this year for tickets, food, hotel (3 rooms) gas and tolls was over $4,000 and that is before anyone bought any souvenirs. If you add that in then it goes up to about $4,500 for a 3 and 1/2 day weekend.

Some nice touches that may attract people would be giving those who purchase a ticket package a voucher for 1 souvenir T-shirt of their choice per ticket. While they would lose some money in concessions, they would more than make that up in additional ticket sales.

Add a complimentary tailgate tent in the fanzone that includes water, soda and light snacks for anyone buying a group of ticket packages greater than 30. Then they can have the option of adding additional food and beverage choices for additional cost. This would make the fanzone an even bigger event and almost everyone would add some food and drinks for a per head price, say hotdogs and 1 choice of beer for $10/per person, etc.... Wrist bands with your group number could be shipped with the tickets so only those with wristbands can enter the "tailgate zone" .

Include more into a package deal option and you will get more attendees. It has to be made more special that all the other events earlier in the year, like the Big City Classic or the Face Off Classic. Right now the final 4 is just another of the big lax events for the year. so only the real enthusiasts make the commitment to go.

I think they should make D1 tickets available on Sunday after the D2 and D3 games for the D1 game Monday. That way, if there are extra seats you can buy a one day ticket to the D1 finals.

But I', not opposed to the package deal either. Maybe they should offer both!

One thing about the whole national title attendance issue is that they sell the tickets as a package deal. Now for a dedicated collegiate lacrosse fan, its great. But for those who are just getting into the sport, or people who played the sport back in the good old days, spending $100+ on tickets just isn't worth it! I personally wanted to just go see the national title, just like I did in '08 when 'Cuse won over Hop, and I had plans that Saturday, so it seemed a little ridiculous to me to pay however much it was for just one game. I'd say only offering the package deal was also a huge detractor to attendance.
