Cross Lace vs. Sidewall String

Welcome to Forum Friday! Everyday there are great conversations taking place in the LAS Community.

If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure you do! And while you’re at it, you might as well watch this silly video update we created too. We hope it provides you with an easy way to connect with other lacrosse fans all over the world.

This week’s Forum Friday is a test of your stringing knowledge. Do you know the different types of string?

elmoxim posted the following:

OK~ First off, the best part of stringing is that you can do whatever you want…THAT being said, what it the size/structural difference between sidewall lace and cross lace? Also, I still have an old roll of “Top Lace” that I still use but it looks like more people have moved away from using a thick string for the top…maybe because heads are now designed to protect the top string? Or no one plays in parking lots because it’s 1986 and your school doesn’t have a lacrosse field?

There have been quite a few responses already, including some from a string maker himself. But maybe you have another take on things, so share your thoughts on the original post!
