Meet The First D1 Lacrosse Player From Hawai’i: Lincoln Liesemeyer

When you look down the roster of a Division 1 lacrosse team these days, you’ll see more and more kids representing some surprising, or non-traditional areas, but none will be more interesting than Lincoln Liesemeyer’s. Why? Because Lincoln Liesemeyer is going to be the first ever D1 player to hail from Hawai’i!

Liesemeyer for OCC last year.

We’ve been following Lincoln for a while now, and we definitely think he has what it takes to make it, and have for some time. In fact, we postulated that if any kid from Hawaii was going to play D1 lacrosse in the near future, Lincoln was as good a bet as possible. Now it turns out Lincoln will be playing for Richie Meade at Furman University in South Carolina, and for Lincoln this really does mean the world:

Personally, being the first player from Hawaii to play D1 lacrosse is incredibly significant. It has been my main goal for the past five years and I’m very thankful that I was able to accomplish it. Hopefully, kids in many non-hotbed areas can see my story and realize there are no limitations on how far you can go if you’re willing to put in the work. I hope I will only be the first of many from Hawaii to play at the NCAA Division 1 level, and in the future I think some will start to attend the big powerhouse programs. I think that my story is a start in that direction.

I couldn’t have accomplished any of what I have done without my mentor, former Navy player Graham Gill, who has shown me the work ethic and competitive nature required to play the game at a high level. Hopefully, people will start to notice the Hawaii Lacrosse community. There is a great group of guys out there who love the game and are doing everything they can to support a growing youth program.

Although high school lacrosse in Hawaii isn’t great, just yet, there are still a huge number of people investing all they can to get it there. I think people will start to notice Hawaii lacrosse in the near future, and I hope I can continue to be a small part of that.

That is just some amazing stuff right there! We’ve been pulling for Lincoln for a while now, and we think Coach Meade has lined up a great kid, with a lot of character, in Mr. Liesemeyer.

Here is a little more info on Lincoln Liesemeyer’s trip to play D1 lacrosse:

  • Played at Punahou HS in Hawai’i, receieved 1 on 1 truing from Graham Gill.
  • Played in the Hawaii Invitational while growing up to test himself.
  • Went to Onondaga CC when no one was interested after high school. Won a national championships with the Lazers last year.
