I reviewed the Nike CEO over on Sweet Sweet Lax and found this head (for offensive players only) to be stiff, pinched and light. It was also a breeze to string because of all the sidewall holes. It was so easy to string, I actually went back to mesh on this head and the pocket that’s developing so far is on point.
No one likes a boring white head, except for about 90% of lacrosse players (I’ll convert them eventually), so I went ahead and dyed the living daylights out of this one. I started with a black base, but before doing that, I completely covered the head in stickers, tape, and other such materials. Then I stuck it in the black dye. Then I peeled some stickers off. Green dye. Replaced the stickers over the green, pulled off more stickers and into the Blue. Repeat for purple, then red, then tangerine, then finally, Tan. I used a LOT of tape and stickers. But it came out tight!
I’m thinking this is my Basquiat stick. Nike, like Andy Warhol, created a masterpiece that could be created in bulk. I, like Basquiat, then changed the head (or painting) by smearing color all over it. And now, once again, it’s an original masterpiece. The original creation is still there, but now it has been added to, and the way it speaks to us is more complex.
I hope that’s the most pretentious thing I ever say.
