The Six Nations Chiefs won a pivotal Game 4 on Vancouver Island last night over the Victoria Shamrocks 8-3. The win tied the best of seven series at two gams apiece, and the five goal winning margin is the largest one we’ve seen in the four games so far. It looked like it was going to be another super tight game after a 2-2 first period, but Six Nations came out hot in the second, and pulled away.

Brandon Miller was good all night in goal for SN, but in the third period, when Victoria really pushed their transition game, he made some truly excellent saves. He ended up with 47 saves on the night, with 3 goals allowed. Stellar effort! The defense did a great job of pushing Victoria to take outside shots as well, and was physical all game.
Early on, it was all Cody Jamieson for SN. He scored the first three goals for the Chiefs, and was a threat to dodge to the cage all night long. Victoria handled him better as the game went on, but early he was unstoppable and finding seams. Victoria’s first two goals were nice teams plays, scored by Rhys Duch and Jeff Shattler. With SN up 3-2, Colin Doyle fired a rocket into the corner on the power play and Colin Boucher added an unassisted goal to end the period with SN up 5-2.
Doyle would finish with a goal and three assists, Stephen Keough had two goals and a helper, and Kedoh Hill had a goal and an assist for SN. Rory Smith racked up 17 minutes, but was a terror all night and gave Six Nations a great lift a couple of times, especially after his fight with Tory Gardner.
Matt Vinc looked good for the most part for Victoria, but Six Nations generated a lot of very good chances, and peppered the cage with shots on some possessions, and finishing inside a couple of times.
Game 5 is tonight, and it promises to be another great tilt!
