Saturday Lacrosse Tournament In New York City: Who Wants To Play?

Tomorrow, Saturday July 14th, the Jamaica Lacrosse Alumni Foundation is hosting a charity lax tournament on fields 74 and 75 on Randall’s Island in New York City, and they’re looking to find some bodies to play on a free agent team! If you’re free, and in New York City, go out and play to help support the cause!

One of the eight teams participating in the Jamaica Lacrosse Alumni Foundation’s men’s lacrosse tournament this Saturday dropped out at the last minute. As a result, The JLAF is accepting individual laxers to form the eighth team.

The tournament is being held on Saturday, July 14, at fields 74 & 75 on Randall’s Island, NYC.

The tournament is a benefit for the JLA Foundation, which is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit that was created to support the lacrosse program at Jamaica High School, which was one of the oldest high school teams in NYC. Here is a little more info on the event, from the JLAF Facebook page:

This is our sixth annual Lacrosse Tourney. Held annually, the event is centrally located for teams throughout the five boroughs, upstate and Westchester counties, and a close distance to Long Island club teams.

Our Lacrosse tourney is a one day Round Robin tournament starting at 9 am and finishing at 5pm. We will once again honor an individual with the annual George Baron Lacrosse Excellence Award, honoring achievements in community lacrosse programs and promotion of the game of lacrosse in the New York City public schools system.

If you’re interested in registering as an individual player, email Mynor Mazariegos ASAP at mynor_maz@yahoo.com. The individual fee will be $20. You’ll be guaranteed to play at least 3 games on Saturday.  If you’re playing, please bring a reversible with white and dark sides!
