College Lacrosse Kicks Off: Weekend Recap

College Lacrosse kicked off with a bang this weekend and a ton of MCLA teams were in action.  There hasn’t been any NCAA action yet (at least not in form of games that they count) but there have been some interesting scrimmage results, which we’ve included below.  For story lines on the NCAA D1 side, check out Ryan Connors’ post and Connor Wilson’s post.  For the action that is in the books already, see below!

To stay up to date on college scores from around the country, make sure to check out Laxpower’s Score Page.

In unofficial action, Denver took on the US Men’s National Team.  It was broadcast live on ESPN3.com, AND rebroadcast on ESPNU last night at 10pm EST.  Team USA needed OT to best the Denver Pioneers 16-15, and it was an exciting fun game.  Both teams could score and Denver looked great.  More than anything though, this game shows how much it helps to be a team that practices together.  Denver, a team of college players, went toe to toe with the best in the world.  MLL and NLL, take notes.  Increased practice time means a better product!

AWESOME ride, great gb, SICK pass, nice look, SWEET shot.  LAX!

MCLA D2 Kennesaw State won in a shocker over D1 Georgia Tech 9-2.  Can’t believe the Yellow Jackets only scored TWO goals!  MCLA D1 Baylor took down MCLA D2 Centenary (LA) by a score of 19-3, which was less surprising.  NCAA D2 Florida Southern took on Central Florida in a scrimmage and won 18-4.  Central Florida rebound from their scrimmage loss with a 32-6 win over North Florida.  Ouch.  32 goals?  That hurts.  Keeping it in Florida, South Florida beat North Florida 11-6.   Texas Tech scored 14 while Trinity (TX) only scored 9, and then keeping it in Texas, Rice beat Texas – San Antonio 10-7.  Sam Houston State beat previously undefeated Baylor 13-10.  The University of South Carolina beat the College of Charleston 10-7 proving Universities are superior to Colleges in South Carolina.  That was a joke.  Texas State beat Texas Tech 12-5.

In the MCLA D2 world we saw domination, and we saw tight games.  Stephen F. Austin tripled up Mary Hardin-Baylor by a score of 18-6, but Cal Lutheran barely got by Marymount College 11-9.  Marymount College did pull out a W over the weekend with a 15-3 win over Redlands.  Coastal Carolina dropped 19 on the Citadel, who could only post 7 goals.  Occidental squeaked by Pepperdine 11-10.  St. Edward’s beat up on Centenary (LA) 25-4.

Want some High School scores?  We’ve got some from Texas and Louisiana!
