The Lax’s Weekly D2 Roundup

Sorry for leaving you with the D2 rookie in the last edition of the Roundup.

Last week was a hell week for me. School and my real job combined for a perfect storm of no bueno.

I left Crave with my list of the weekend’s best games and I must say that they lived up to the billing. Let’s review:

Recap of Last Week’s Roundup:

Friday, 3/26:

Fort Lewis 10 at #9 Utah Valley University 19

Fort Lewis didn’t get blown out like I thought they would. They still aren’t what they were 2-3 years ago.

Saturday, 3/27:

#2 Grand Valley State 10 at #1 St Thomas 15 (in Ames, Iowa)

St. Thomas took this one. I’m a bit surprised, but even more surprised by Sunday’s result

2 for 1 Sunday, 3/28:

#2 Grand Valley State 5 at #5 St Johns 6 (in Ames, Iowa)

Looks like GVSU is on the short end of the Top 5 battles this weekend. Look for them to drop 3-5 spots in the Collegelax.com poll. They already dropped 3 spots in the adidas/MCLA Mag poll.

Harding 8 at #19 Kennesaw St 19

I’m not surprised by this. Harding proves that they don’t have the luster they did a few years ago while KSU shows they belong in the conversation amongst the SELC big boys.

Crave picked Andrew Dymski from Grove City as his player of the week but since he didnt play any games last weekend all I have to say is good luck with the rest of your season.

I couldn’t find any pics from the games. Very sad.

D2 Game of the Week

Saturday, 4/2:

#18 Kennesaw State @ SCAD

Former divisional rivals. Playing for respect. They share colors. They share mascots that fly. Should Kennesaw State win, they gain a large amount of respect from across the country.

Player of the Week:

POTW

Erik Johnson, Senior Attack #23 from Fort Lewis

The man has 5.4 PPG in 5 games(not all stats are entered on mcla.us. Fort Lewis has played 7 games). I really don’t have any stats to base this pick off of, so I’m gonna go with him getting 4 goals in each of their last 2 wins.

Make me proud, Erik.

Counter

That’s all I’ve got for this week. Looks like a lot of schools took the Easter weekend off.

Personal Note: My season is officially over with. Went to the doctor for some lower back pain and found out I sprained my back. With our last two games being 2-3 weeks away, it is unlikely I’ll be able to return in time.

Bieber.
