Double Traditional Tutorial

Welcome to the Double Traditional Tutorial! This week’s #TraditionalThursday demonstrates how to string the Double Traditional pocket and offers up some tips and tricks to make it easy. If you can string a single string traditional, you can string a double traditional… it’s time to get to work!

Best Heads For Double Traditional Pockets

You should be making 8 sidewall loops, and you’ll need to leave both the top and bottom sidewall holes open on both sides. Ideally, you’ll want a head with at least 10 holes on its sidewall to do this right. You will also want a head with four bottom holes, so certain STX products won’t work as well because they only have two bottom holes.

You can string this pocket high, mid, low, or anywhere in between, and when it’s done, it feels like a solidly strung 7 or 8 diamond stick. The two traditional patterns weave in and out of each other and provide support up and down the pocket. It takes a while to break in, but once it does, you’re going to love it.

When it comes to big time pros using this traditional variant, Kevin Leveille used one of these pockets for the Rochester Rattlers. He seemed to like it, and it certainly didn’t stop him from scoring goals!
