Deutschland Adler Wins ELL Championship!

The Deutschland Adler Lacrosse Club, in only its first year of existence, has captured the 2012 European Lacrosse League Championship. The team is led by Jamie Plunkett, and represents the first continuous foray into box lacrosse stemming out of Germany. It’s a GTG success story!

By virtue of their performance in the previous three tournaments, Deutschland Adler earned the second seed for this final tournament, and this meant they got a bye directly into the semifinals. In the semifinal match the DALC ran up against a young but talented and hungry Wolves squad, emerging with a hard fought 7-5 win.

The other semifinal saw the Bizons emerge victorious, and the final was set between the #1 and #2 seeds. The final was back and forth and each team went on a couple of big runs. DALC was up 9-6 heading into the last period, but the Bizons fought back and tied it up at 9. Both teams had chances to put in game-winning goals, but towards the end, the DALC managed a great team goal which was scored by Jamie Plunkett to win 10-9. Pass, pass, pass, goal. Pure beauty.

Both teams left it all out on the floor, and I was really impressed by the play of both goalies. The game was physical and saw some really pretty goals scored.

Congratulations to the Deutschland Adler Lacrosse Club on a very successful first season! We couldn’t have been more proud to have our names on the back of your jerseys, and love the 1 for 1 seasons to championships ratio. Well done, fellas!

We’ll have more from Deutschland Adler in the coming days!
