Music Monday: The Pete and Mike Band

Editor’s Note: Please welcome Nate Fritts to the Lacrosse All Stars! This isn’t his first time on the site of course, we had the pleasure of meeting Nate on the Rhino Lacrosse Camp Tour a couple summers back. Nate hails from Portland, Oregon, played at Bowdoin College (NESCAC) in Maine, and now resides in Boston, MA where he researches concussions and brain diseases when he’s not laxing.

With summer well underway, we wanted to up your weekly dosage of music, so we decided to double our music offering to you. Each Monday, Michael Allen will take the morning detail, and Nate Fritts will continue to knock out the night hours. Everybody wins! Check out all the Music Monday posts here!

Now that I am bringing you the evening edition of Music Monday, I thought it would be fitting to supply you with some chiller, end-of-a-hard-day music to help you relax and raise your spirits. I don’t know about you, but I certainly had a case of the Mondays. As I sat on my couch and heard The Pete and Mike Band come on through my speakers, I realized they’d be a great band to give a shoutout to with today’s write up.

When I was a freshman at Bowdoin, one of the seniors had his cousin’s band come to play a free concert in the backyard of the lacrosse house at 83 1/2 Harpswell. That band that showed was The Pete and Mike Band, who provided the perfect music for a day-long yard party. They played a selection of their own songs as well as some crowd-pleasing singalongs like a Wagon Wheel/No Woman, No Cry medley. They were an instant hit and earned a concrete spot in my music library. Hopefully, they’ll catch your ear like they did mine and you can go support these lesser-known artists by purchasing their stuff on iTunes! (Their four albums are also on Spotify)

“On Fire”

Check it out on Myspace here!

“Flower In A Coal Mine”

Check it out on Spotify here!

Also check out more of their music on iTunes, Spotify, or a limited collection of free listens here.

EN Bonus: Enjoy this video of their song ‘On Your Side’!
