Values of Commitment

Good morning, ladies gentlemen!

“The worker who is paid to keep the sheep is different from the shepherd. The paid worker does not own the sheep. So when he sees a wold coming, he runs away and leaves the sheep alone. Then the wolf attacks the sheep and scatters them. The man runs away because he is only a paid worker. He does not really care for the sheep.” – John 10: 12-13

This speaks to me of commitment. To whom or what are you so committed to that you honor that commitment when things get tough; or when somebody or something creates discord; or when things do not go exactly as planned? Commitment is a word that is thrown around a lot, and usually with the greatest of intent. But consider this one definition of the word commitment: An engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action. In other words, to be committed is to be engaged in a process, to a person, or in an action to the point where we willingly restrict ourselves or sacrifice a level of independence.

What purpose in life are you committed to? What person(s) are you committed to? What values are you committed to? Take note of those things in life. They will be the driving force behind everything that you do… and don’t do.

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.
