Select Photos From The Weekend & A Random Thought Or Four

Our friend Mike Band might have said it best:

As mentioned earlier today in the Cheese, quite a few people on The Big Twitter shared their disappointment in this past weekend’s laxtivities. Slow/sloppy D1 final? Sure, but it’s one I’ll never forget. In my mind, the best parts about the weekend were the storyline and the coverage. I didn’t get a chance to follow the D2 & D3 match-ups closely, but my lax fix was completely satisfied having glued myself to a TV, beach-side and sunburnt, for all the D1 action.

The more lacrosse in HD the better, and you can never get enough real-time commentary, weekend launch parties, and all access photos. Inside Lacrosse provided great content 24/7, and we all know 412 blogged and tweeted non-stop. It was awesome and I hope the momentum continues into the 2010-2011 season.

Speaking of the all access – AKA All Lax-ess – photos, check out a couple of the pics IL posted over the weekend. I’ve been to quite a few tailgaters in my day, but never have I ever seen lax bros bro out like this…

Oh Brantford, look what you started!

Not sure what’s happening in the photo below, but Lax.com has a great gallery from the Duke / Notre Dame game if you’re interested.

Hats off to LAS friend and former Penn State phenom Drew Adams, who took home MLL Defensive Player of the Week after a big performance against the Boston Cannons last Thursday. 14 saves on 23 shots. Highlights from the game are supposed to be available here, but I couldn’t get it to play. Hopefully you have better luck.

From the PR:

Drew Adams lifted the Long Island Lizards to their first win of the season with his performance between the pipes. The Lizards defeated the Boston Cannons 13-11, handing Boston their first loss of the season. Adams made 14 saves on 23 shots (.609 save percentage).

Adams had only allowed four goals in the first three quarters, including a shutout in the third quarter. Adams now leads the MLL in goals against average at 11.33. It is his second season in the league, though last year he only saw seven minutes of game action.

“It is my job to make the saves, and my main focus is always to keep the ball out of the net,” said Adams. “I was fortunate to make some stops early, and that gave me some good momentum for the rest of the game.”

Adams was the third goalkeeper taken in the 2009 MLL Draft, after Doc Schneider and Jordan Burke. He is number one in Penn State history in career saves (694), and was named ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year three times. No other goalkeeper besides Adams has seen any time on the field for the Lizards yet this season.

And finally, in other news, someone spotted this photo on Facebook and sent it in today. THAT is the bus I want to drive the whole LAS team to Baltimore in next year. And it’s for sale too. Must have more info. You know where to find us.
