Maintaining Control

Good morning!

I just need one little thing to cheer me up. Anything.

That’s the tweet that popped up in my timeline last night minutes before I fell asleep. We all hit rough patches; times when we need a little something extra to get us through a situation. Some patches are brief. Some are lengthy. The thing to remember, however, is that we never have to wait for someone else to cheer us up. The “little something extra” that we need is already there if we are willing to access it. We NEVER have to wait on another person to make us happy. To quote, a friend of mine,

If we can default to one of two mindsets, curiosity or gratefulness, it is impossible to be unhappy.

Sure there are times when we are angry, sad, hurt, disappointed. The degree to which we allow those feelings to control our minds, however, is completely up to us. Sometimes we have to snap ourselves out of it multiple times a day. But we CAN snap ourselves out of it.

Never leave your own happiness in the hands of somebody else. It’s an unfair task to delegate. Take control of your own mental and emotional wellbeing!

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.
