My man! I'm responding again because I think discussion is healthy, and I appreciate you defending FL. First off, please excuse the misunderstanding in my tone. I did not mean to come across as condescending at all.

Your comments, however, are a little off base. As a matter of fact, we've played St. Andrews every year I've been here except this year. We've played Highland. We've been to the Final 4 already (and lost to St. Andrews). We've played St. Thomas each year except last year and this year. We've played Pinecrest every year except this year. We haven't played the others you mention, but I've seen some of them (and others) at various times, including Boone, who I saw a couple weeks ago against Gulliver.

So, trust me, I have an understanding of where FL lacrosse is, from the very best to the bottom of the startup programs. I've also been around the game for 20 plus years (which may or may not be more than you, I'm not sure), I've seen the game at every single level from youth to international level competition.

My point, my friend, is exactly what you mentioned. Compared to MD/NY/PA/CT/NJ and other pockets, the level of play is lower here. But that's the standard by which all programs should be measured when speaking broadly, or from a national perspective (the perspective from which I answered the question). You are absolutely correct in noting that it's a crapshoot with other areas. There are players and pockets EVERYwhere ... But, just like FL, those other areas are just as comparatively low. GA, CA, TX, and others are starting to consistently produce unbelievably talented players, much the same as FL. And while I wouldn't say that FL is top of the "rest" I think it's definitely further ahead than many of them.

my comment about your program was almost identical to the comment you made about the state of FL.

no offense to your boys, on an individual level i'm sure there are some that can compete with anyone.

it is condescending to assume people from FL don't have a solid grasp of where they stack up nationally. Low compared to MD/NY/PA/CT/NJ....yes. Anwhere else is a crapshoot depending on what teams you see.

your squad rarely leaves dade county. See some of the heavy hitters before making your full assessment (st. thomas, st. andrews, timber creek, winter park, boone, lake highland, ponte vedra, bolles, lake brantley).

the state final 4 on may 6/7 at west orange high school in orlando would be a great opportunity.

anyways good interview, glad you live in FL. keep doing your thing.

Ouch ... I absolutely appreciate the compliment! But can't let you take shots at my guys like that. I have some guys that can compete with ANYbody in the state. If you're familiar with lacrosse OUTSIDE of FL, however, then you realize that level of lacrosse in Florida truly is "comparatively low." That's one thing that we (yes, we ... the whole FL lax community) have to recognize if we want to actually become a hotbed. There are plenty of good individual players. But lacrosse here is far from what lacrosse is in other areas.
