you'd be surprised how often this still happens in the Northeast! I think kids benefit the most from playing a couple of different sports… focus on one in college but in HS, kids should try to play at least 2 sports if athletic are one of their main interests. When coaches work together, the kids benefit the most and isn't that really the point of all this?
