Army won the first period 4-1, and scored the first goal of the game only six seconds into the contest. The Black Knights scored again before a whole minuet had passed by, and while the rest of the action was closer, the Black Knights continued to pull away throughout the game leading 7-3 at the half, 12-6 after three quarters, and finishing up with a 7 goal lead. Army outshot Navy 21-8 in the first half and also won 9 of 12 face offs.

John Glesener and Connor Cook each had three goals for Navy, and Cook added three assists for six total points. Glesener also had a helper. Will Mazzone also had two goals and an assists for three points, and 8 other players got in on the scoring as well, with either an assist or a goal. Bobby Sincero was solid in goal with 8 saves on the day.

Navy was led by Sam Jones and Gabe Voumard, who each put up 3 points on two goals and an assist. Pat Kiernan, Navy’s star LSM/defender was impressive in the game causing turnovers, picking up GBs, and adding an assist. John Connors played the whole game in net and made 10 saves on the day.

The game was intense, as all Army Navy games tend to be, but it wasn’t penalty filled, as Army only had two penalties, and Navy had three. The game was a grind though, and for those Army seniors, it might be the win of their career. What’s better than beating your rival as a senior? Other than winning a national title, not much!
