This week’s Lax Hack should help you nail that perfect tape job. I think I speak for most of you when I say I hate when my tape peels and I constantly have to fix it. I’ve got a few tips that will keep your tape job looking good.
The first thing to keep in mind, is which direction you will be taping in. As a natural right handed player I like to think about how my hands will be moving on the shaft. If my hand rotates against the tape, it can peel up and become annoying.
I also like to tape from the bottom up to avoid going against the grain of the tape layers. Shooting generates a lot of force and when your hands are forced down with the tape, it doesn’t peel up.
With these things in mind I like to finish my tape job by rubbing a white crayon over the seam to keep it from peeling up.
If you’re using another color of tape just find a crayon to match. I’ve been using the crayon trick for a while and haven’t been disappointed. Notice how the tape doesn’t peel back.
