US Lacrosse Chosen to Promote NFL and CDC Poster Concerning Concussions

BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse is one of 14 national governing bodies selected to provide access to the poster made by the National Football League (NFL) Head, Neck and Spine Medical Committee, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the NFL Players Association that will educate young athletes on the importance of recognizing a concussion, taking time to recover and not returning to play too soon.

“We appreciate the opportunity to work with the CDC on this important initiative,” said US Lacrosse President and CEO Steve Stenersen. “With the support of our Sports Science & Safety Committee, US Lacrosse is committed to raising awareness of the serious nature of concussion injury, as well as the importance of recognizing and properly caring for the injury when it occurs.”

The poster as well as free online concussion training from the CDC is available at https://www.uslacrosse.org/UtilityNav/AboutTheSport/SportsScienceandSafety/Resources.aspx. The poster poses the question, “What Should I Do if I Think I Have a Concussion?” and specifies three important steps: Don’t Hide It, Report It; Get Checked Out; Take Care of Your Brain.
