Good Time To Be On The Machine

MLL training camps kicked off this weekend, which is a little more special than years past because of all of the new-ish faces around the locker rooms. Since the MLL and LXM PRO came to terms and merged leagues, a ton of bright stars are back playing in the MLL, or getting their first shot at it.

No team has it better right now than the Ohio Machine.

Although it was already too late, the Machine added the spark they needed with Logan Schuss’s offensive firepower last season. Had he arrived any sooner, Logan could have potentially kept them from scraping the bottom. In 2014, the Machine get to start the season with Logan, and a few more guys who aren’t afraid to score. Kyle Harrison, along with Peter Baum and Erik Krum, took the leap from the LXM and landed in Ohio.

This is adding up for the Machine to have one of the most electrifying attack groups made up of all-stars Logan Schuss, Marcus Holman, Steele Stanwick, Erik Krum, Jim Connolly, as well as solid players in Connor English and James Delaney. They have flipped from being the “old guys” in the league to the bright young stars accented with experienced vets.

Falling to the bottom wasn’t all bad, it allowed for the Machine to use the #1 pick in the Collegiate Draft to select Tom Schrieber from Princeton, arguably the top player in college lacrosse this season.

Last year’s #1 pick was used on Peter Baum, who sat the season out to participate on the LXM PRO Tour. Well, Peter is finally in Columbus and they city is ready to celebrate. Peter was given the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the Columbus Clippers’ game, the minor league triple-a affiliate of the Indians.

Do you know what else is awesome about the Ohio Machine?

They get to kick it with the animals from the world famous Columbus Zoo. Here are some awesome videos taken by faceoff man Eric O’Brien when the crew got to hangout with some penguins, a lynx and Bro Chill.

Warning: It gets cute.

Oh yeah, you also get to hang out around babes and eat pizza named after your team….then you get the Hollywood treatment.

Hopefully the new faces and the celebrity treatment is just what the locker room needed to get the turn around. I’m guessing that the Machine won’t struggle this season to collect tallies in the win column.

Only time can tell, until then, I hope they keep updating their social media pages.
