Thanks for all your support guys. We hit another hurdle for this coming weekend in that we had to forfeit our double header due to lack of enough players... Had to have a come to Jesus with the team, because emotions got hot.

I have faith that we will be able to regroup and can compete the rest of the season.

Damn these kids are giving me gray hairs, LOL!!!

what you all have accomplished in just one year is nothing short of amazing.

not a lot of teams could even get off the ground in one year, let alone play games and get a real team going. Getting through the 1st year is the hardest and I hope you can pull through to the end.

Congratulatons to you and all the boys who have stuck it out and honored their commitments. They will be able to look back on their HS team in 10 years (like I can do now) and say "we did that". It's a great feeling and I hope your boys get to experience it!

All the love and respect in the world for you guys in S. Tejas!

Stay strong, guys...

I was a kid when lacrosse made its wildfire-like push across the Potomac River from Maryland into Northern Virginia in the mid to late 80s, when public-school kids like myself fielded our first varsity teams comprised mainly of sophomores and freshman. We got jumped into the gang of lacrosse by the established D.C.-area private-school powerhouses - I'm talking serious beat-downs here. Sure, lax had existed in NoVA for years but even to a kid there was obviously something special happening with all the growth in the sport. Kids, a historical aside here: the Maryland state sport was jousting way back then - not lax as it is now (this was a perennial joke at the University of Maryland camp every summer). My high school was one of the first dozen teams in Fairfax County to enjoy this kind of punishment, and you know what? We loved it. And still the other 20-some public schools were lining up to do the same. So imagine all these years later how proud I am of any kid I see playing college ball from a Fairfax County high school... In some kind of butterfly effect roundabout way, I feel like the great-great-great-great-great-great grandpa of those guys and they don't even know it. If that sounds odd, my first coaching experience was my freshman year in high school because it was the only way I could stay involved in the sport. So I totally understand what Chewy means when he talks about seeing the next big lax star coming out of South Texas... except I'm waiting and watching for the kids coming out of Alabama.

Never give up, we have experienced all of your pains here at GFA Lacrosse in Belleville, IL. This is our second year and now have a full roster. There are resources available with pros willing to come and give camps and clinics. These will help with awareness. Keep reaching out.
