a fair point, but one has to consider that WITHOUT this move, CU would be EVEN further from adding men's lacrosse. If more women's team are added, I could see CU adding a men's team, especially as the sport grows in the state.

To me, it is a GTG moment on the women's side, which should be celebrated. As far as the men's team goes, it opens more doors than it closes IMHO, and I'm happy to see it go down.

Really appreciate the insightful comment though!!!!

From my point of view, this is the kiss of death for not adding a Mens program to the D1 ranks any time soon. This is a move to appease title IX. Check this quote from the AD

Bohn added, “We recognize the importance of bolstering our participation numbers and meeting our Title IX obligations.”

This was a catch up move to get closer to Title IX compliance, not a referendum on how much CU loves lacrosse.

The advantage for schools that don't have a Men's and Women's program already is that the programs can rise together, see: Michigan. The fact that the CU Men's partner program is jumping without them doesn't bode well for D1 Men's lax at CU. This is from an outside perspective, but you now need to find another women's team sport with somewhat equivalent opportunities to bring the Men's program D1. Not an easy task.

Happy for the Women's team, not optimistic for the Men's.
