Groove Today

Good Thursday morning!

Listen to the first part of Marvin Gaye’sGot to Give It Up.”

I used to go out to parties
And stand around
’cause I was too nervous
To really get down
But my body yearned to be free
I got up on the floor and thought
Somebody could choose me
No more standin’ there beside the walls
I done got myself together baby
And now I’m havin’ a ball
As long as you’re groovin’
There’s always a chance

There’s more to this than how Marvin got his groove back! He hit the nail on the head. He used to stand around because he was too nervous, to let go an enjoy himself. He says, “But my body yearned to be free.” There was something inside of him that needed more than that. There was something inside of him that was ready to come out, when he was ready to stop being nervous and worrying about the outcome. So he decides to put himself out there and let the opportunities come to him; to let the opportunities manifest.

Opportunities in life don’t choose you when you’re standing on the wall, nervous about how things are going to play out. We have to take some chances. We have to seize each moment, and enjoy it to the best of our ability. He says, now that he got himself together – now that he got off the wall and put himself out their in opportunity’s way, he’s “having a ball.” And then he follows it up with “Long as you’re groovin’, there’s always a chance!”

Groovin’ is the attitude choice there! Forget the rest of what’s going on. Forget that something may turn out to be a failure. Forget that the opportunity that you’re seeking may not come right this moment. Choose to be positive about it. Choose to groove in the moment, because once you do, the doors begin to open. Maybe slowly, but they will begin to open. Groove today! Enjoy life. Don’t let somebody else’s stares, or doubts, or your own worries and fears keep you from grooving in the here and now.

Make it a GREAT one!

Stay blessed.
