Lax Link-O-Rama

I spent the week in Puerto Rico and my brain was fried but in a good way.  More on that adventure later in the week.  More recently, I just spent two hours coaching at a Citylax clinic in Brooklyn and my brain is now frozen.  This could be interesting so bear with me as we reheat.

LAS besties, Kyle Harrison and Brett “pelo loco” Hughes are showing you the basics of 1 on 1s on lax.com and they are up to their third installment. If you want to see Kyle and Brett live in-action, the MLL’s schedule is also up so plan all of those road trips where you and your buddies follow your team around for the summer!  What, people don’t do that?  Oh.  Well, here it is anyway.

412 will be pleased (actually, maybe he won’t be. who knows with that dude.) but there are rumors that a group of investors may be interested in creating a franchise in the Steel City.  Yes, Pittsburgh.  I’m all for it.

If you’re interested in reading about pro lacrosse, you can.  I’d be interested to read it, but until then can’t really vouch for its quality.  Of course, since you’re here, maybe you just like the online stuff so here’s a little something on Kyle Sweeney, US Team and pro LSM extraordinaire.  Some guys you’ve probably never even heard of are putting other careers on hold just for the chance to play a little more lax.  Gary Bining of the Blazers is one such individual.  I think it is even more amazing that he’s probably the smallest guy on the floor every night while he could be pursuing a career in medicine.   That’s dedication, homes.

While it is COLD up North and most teams haven’t started up, some of the boys a little further South are already playing.  Good for them!  Always good to get a jump on things, if you can.

If your squad hasn’t started up yet and you’re looking to get that edge, listen to this man and heed his words.  I promise, you will see the results.

Kyle has also allowed UMBC middie and relation, Maxx Davis a chance to guest blog, so give Maxx some love and check him out this season as a player to watch.  He sets some pretty lofty goals for UMBC… good to see them shooting for the stars.

On a more Canadian note, John Grant, Jr. gets a little more love because he deserves it.  He’s quite possibly the best lacrosse player on the planet but stateside he’s always been a little under the radar.  Maybe it’s because he went to Delaware, maybe it’s because he’s Canadian (but then again, so were the Gaits and others), maybe it’s because he signed with Adidas… I don’t know.  But he’s the real deal so study up.

If you’re as much of a style guy as a substance guy, then as always you can go to LPG and get educated.  They even put together a handy guide with predictions for you!  so nice of them.

Gtown’s gloves are in and I almost always like their gear.  They went for… diversity in their color selections.  One white, one grey, one navy.  Ok.  Good effort.  People love Duke gear.  I don’t usually get it and this year is no exception.  To each their own, I guess.

For more gloves, opinion, smack talk and opinion than your feeble brain can handle, check out  one of 412’s best post of the week.  I mean, they’re all good but some are just a little more special.

All this lax has gotten me back in the swing of things and out of vacation mode.  I’m not sure if that’s a good thing yet.  Pumped for Miami Bump and Grind in two weeks and New Orleans in four!  LAS will be at the convention.  I know you were worried.
