Music Monday: The Black Keys

The Black Keys released their newest album Brothers on May 19th, 2010. I downloaded it that day and proceeded to listen to it non-stop for the next 4 weeks. Every song is different, yet the album runs together like a 15-course meal. Perfect for a long drive or hitting the wall the lefty with earbuds in.

‘Brothers is actively engaged in exploring how to make beloved old sounds relevant to now, and the result is that even classic Black Keys howlers like “Black Mud” and “Ten Cent Pistol” come off more vital in the new context.’ – The Onion AV Club

Below are a couple of my favorites and the music video for “Tighten Up”:

You can preview more or purchase the album on Amazon or iTunes.

Also, be advised that Kid Cudi‘s The Man on the Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager drops November 9th. Here’s new track from KC via The Music Ninja:

The perpetually moody Kid Cudi has partnered with Weatherman frontman Cage to release a track where Cudder croons “I am the maniac, I am the ghoul, I’m in the shadows in the corner of my room”. The track (that conveniently appears soon before the release of Cudi’s newest album) features a strong verse from Cage and Kid Cudi drops some sly lines as well. The potency of the track comes from a sample of hipster-rockers St. Vincent mixed with ethereal pads and guitars.
