One Year with CityLax Video

CityLax (New York City) uses a public-private partnership model to develop and expand the game of lacrosse inside New York City public schools. The not-for-profit provides grants, equipment, free year round player clinics, PSAL trophies, coaches’ clinics in the Winter, and acts as a resource for the sport within the five boroughs of NYC.

A large group of volunteers (many with NCAA lacrosse experience) and a dedicated group of donors make all of this work possible. In the last 6 years, CityLax has helped the NYC Public School Athletic League see unbelievable growth for both boys’ and girls’ programs. Ten years ago, NYC had only 4 or 5 public school varsity teams. There are now well over 30 varsity teams for boys or girls at the public school level, with many more development programs and JV teams.

The future of lacrosse in NYC is bright thanks to the people behind CityLax. This short promo video does a nice job of showing the impact CityLax programs make in the NYC lacrosse community.

Editor’s Note: Connor Wilson is a CityLax volunteer, and worked on the above video for CityLax. He fully believes in their mission, and that they make a difference in the lives of at-risk NYC youth.
