NLL Previews And Prediction: Week 9

We saw an exciting series between Minnesota and Edmonton this past weekend. Both teams managed to win the away game but lose their home game.  Edmonton is now 1 game back in the West and Minnesota sits at 1.5 back.  Ryan Benesch came away with 13 points for the Swarm while Matthews struggled to scored in both games.

Philadelphia had a big weekend as they topped both Rochester and Colorado. A big swing for the Wings as they now sit 4-3 on the year. Colorado dropped another game and we saw the release of starting net minder Matt Roik.

Washington managed a big upset over Calgary, 16-14. We saw the Snider brothers battle all night at the face off dot. Despite Geoff Snider winning the majority of the face offs, Calgary still lost.  Tyler Richards was stellar in net for The Stealth and is a large factor to their success this season.

We have some good match ups this week including a Thursday night game between Buffalo and Toronto, which will be broadcast LIVE on The Lacrosse Network. TLN is the only place you can find this game!

  • Buffalo Bandits @ Toronto Rock

Connor Wilson – Toronto Rock “Thurs night game in TOR? Gotta go with the Rock to win that one at home“.

Chris Rosenthall – Toronto Rock “Not a whole lot of science behind this pick. Good offense, good defense, Toronto wins“.

Ryan Connors – Toronto Rock “Toronto should be well rested.  I like them in this matchup”.

  • Philadelphia Wings @ Buffalo Bandits

Connor Wilson – Philadelphia Wings “Call me crazy but Philly is looking good again!

Chris Rosenthall – Philadelphia Wings “Since they beat Rochester and Colorado, I don’t know how much Philly’s two wins last weekend really mean. On the other hand, they’ve already beaten the Bandits once, no reason they can’t do it again“.

Ryan Connors – Philadelphia Wings “Not crazy Connor, correct.  Philadelphia is playing much better lacrosse and their offense is starting to come around”.

  • Rochester Knighthawks @ Colorado Mammoth

Connor Wilson – Rochester Knighthawks “My gut says Colorado pulls it together and wins this one, but with Rochester I ALWAYS go against my gut. It’s science. Roch wins“.

Chris Rosenthall – Colorado Mammoth “Okay Mammoth, you guys don’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. But then again, the Knighthawks have scored 8 goals or less in 4 of their last 6 games. That’s gross. Yuck. I don’t know, I guess I’ll take Rochester anyway, with a big game from Matt Vinc. But what if Dan Lewis takes over in cage for Colorado? The Mammoth won the last time they switched goalies, maybe they’ll do it again. I’m changing my pick to Colorado; congrats in advance to the Knighthawks“.

Ryan Connors – Rochester Knighthawks “I don’t know what to make of this game.  Two weeks ago Rochester had flashes of brilliance, and last week they looked average at best.  Colorado has been in a slump as of late, but a new goalie can shake things up.  Matt Vinc….enough to sway my pick“.

  • Edmonton Rush @ Calgary Roughnecks

Connor Wilson – Calgary Roughnecks “I just like Calgary. It’s not the EDM is bad, far from it… I just think Calgary has what it takes and will win at home. They’re a dynamo!

Chris Rosenthall – Calgary Roughnecks “The Roughnecks have beaten the Rush in 10 straight regular season games, so I’m going with Calgary even though their defense has been giving up way too many goals lately“.

Ryan Connors – Calgary Roughnecks “Calgary is too good, Edmonton has been playing better but not good enough to win“.

  • Minnesota Swarm @ Washington Stealth

Connor Wilson – Minnesota Swarm “I’ll get this pick right someday… hopefully it’s today! Swarm has shown a ton of promise. Now is when they put it together“.

Chris Rosenthall – Washington Stealth “When they played earlier this season, the Swarm won by a goal. The swarm just announced that Andrew Suitor (torn ACL) is out for the season with a torn ACL, and he was good for 2g 1a last game, so I’m betting against the Swarm once again“.

Ryan Connors – Washington Stealth “The young Swarm squad are playing with a lot of heart but I think Washington takes this one“.

Correct Picks Running Tally:

Connor Wilson (15-21)
Chris Rosenthall (12-24)
Ryan Connors (12-24)

Yet another stellar week for me picking.  Just when I start to get em right I get them all wrong.  Oh well, win some lose some.  Let me know what your picks are this week @connors36 or leave a comment.
