Life Happens

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Happy Friday!

There are two types of people in this world: those who swoop up their accidentally dropped keys with no complaints and go along their merry way and those who, more often than not, can’t pick them up without cursing or letting out a big, miserable sigh. An insignificant occurrence, yes, but it’s often the mundane incidents (a whining child, an on-the-fritz printer) that reveal how vastly different human temperaments can be,” says Michael D. Robinson, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at North Dakota State University, in Fargo.

This is the opening paragraph from an article written by Joanne Chen, titled, “Why We Shouldn’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” We see it every day. The person that turns everything into something bigger than it needs to be. The person that thinks there’s an angle to every comment (or lack thereof). The person that just cannot seem to relax. You know him. You know her. They are the people that when you see them, you can’t help but say to yourself, “It’s really not that serious.”

Life happens. Sometimes you have to breathe your way through it. Sometimes you have to smile and nod your way through it. In athletics, it’s easy to tell the difference between a resilient team and a team that is going to implode. You can see it on their faces and in their body language every time something goes wrong. Life is no different. Take note of how you react to the small things. It’s in those moments that you can recognize how you are going to react to the big things.

Make it a GREAT day, and a GREAT weekend!

Stay blessed.
