Music Monday: Kid Ink’d

Happy Monday! It’s jam time…

If you had too much fun this weekend and you’ve got a serious case of the Mondays like me, this is the Music Monday for you…

Producer recently-turned rapper Kid Ink hales from LA and has been turning heads (or more so ears) over the last couple years with a series of mixtapes that earned him a well-deserved contract with RCA. As of late, it seems like there are plenty of new artists sprouting all over the hip-hop nation, but few with both the producing and rapping skills that Kid Ink supplies.

You may have heard his hit radio single “Show Me” with Chris Brown. Well last week, he dropped his second album titled My Own Lane which is solid from beginning to end and includes that chart-topper. I find it difficult to listen to a lot of full rap albums anymore, but this one is the complete package. Kid Ink apparently named the album because he believes he cannot be grouped with any particular style because of the variety in his music. I think you’ll agree.

He starts things off right with “Hello World” – a big positive vibe building anthem that’ll get you hooked right off the bat. He follows with a string of jams including “Show Me” and “Iz U Down” (not included here). The album continues with a variety of sounds and samples before getting to a couple of my favorites, “Murda” and “More Than A King” – two sure-fire songs to get you moving in the weight room or on the field for a pre-game throw around.

Warning: [Explicit lyrics…keep it off the field and away from the dinner table]

Kid Ink is currently on tour with a handful of shows left including his hometown LA (tomorrow night!) and destinations in Montana, Vermont, NJ and Michigan. This would be a rocking show if you can make it. If you do, be sure to rep your LAS gear and have fun!
