Lacrosse Hunger Games to Benefit Local North Carolina Charities

The 5th annual Stick it to Hunger Lacrosse Classic is back again and ready to help feed families through the holiday season!  The annual event is a high school and adult lacrosse play day that focused on collecting and donating non-perishable food and proceeds from the tournament to local charity.

The Triad Blackhawks Lacrosse Club alongside Help Kick Hunger are sponsoring the “Lacrosse Hunger Games” event. Help Kick Hunger is a local organization that has held other success events in the area that are similar to this one, but for soccer. What’s better than beating hunger through a lacrosse event packed with raffles, food, clinics and so much more!

The 2013 Hunger Games raised over $8,000 and over two tons of non-perishable food for charity from among the 300 participants coming from 46 different schools.

Last year’s proceeds were proudly passed on to organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project, Kernersville Christmas Relief Fund, Triad inner-city lacrosse initiatives and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

A free youth lacrosse clinic will be hosted for 1st through 7th graders of all experience and will include brand new players through the Triad Blackhawks’ Kids First initiative.

Volunteers will also be on hand to give away lacrosse sticks to young children through The “A Stick from Chase” program will be donating lacrosse stick for volunteers to hand out to young children and beginners of the game.

The program was initiated in 2010 by local lacrosse clubs to honor the late Chase Bunting, a high school lacrosse player who died in a skateboarding accident in October 2010.

Participants are asked to bring a grocery bag of non-perishable food to the event, which will be distributed through Greensboro Urban Ministries to those in need. Admission is free for spectators, but the public is encouraged to drop by and donate a bag of non-perishable food.
