Video: OCC Beats Nassau For 5th Straight JuCo Title

Onondaga Community College and Nassau Community College absolutely went at it yesterday out on Long Island for the NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse national championship. OCC ended up with the 15-11 win, and their fifth straight title, and we were roundly impressed with the talent on both teams.

There are the obvious guys, like Randy Staats (who heads to Cuse next year), but when there are kids who don’t see time in the title game that are still going D1 next year, you just know the level of talent is extremely high.

OCC went up 4-0, and then 8-1, and it seemed like the game was over. Then Nassau came back, and made it tight at 9-7. OCC outpaced NCC the rest of the way, but it made for an intense and physical game. Staats had 4 goals and an assist, and Jordan Saunderson led the Lazers with six goals and a helper of his own. Warren Hill was lights out at times in net, and made 18 huge saves for the win.

This was also Onondaga’s 70th consecutive win, and that is a record for straight wins in both the NJCAA, and NCAA.

Randy Staats was a driving force for Onondaga.
