MLL Stock Report – Week 3

MLL Stock Report is a week by week look at several of the stand out units, players, and moments in Major League Lacrosse, as well as a few things that stood out in the negative. We’d show you some more videos, but it looks like MLL has given up on YouTube this season.

Grades are given like stocks are traded, with ratings on a scale of +/- 10.

I’m putting the spotlight on the things that stood out throughout the weekend’s match ups as well as giving you some bets for the upcoming weekend. It’s all for fun. I like betting, I’m just not a big gambler. There’s a difference!

MLL Stock Report – Buy/Sell

+9.4 Truck Stop: Big Rig Rodgers comes up huge in OT. Banged up to start the season, he started off this game great, then had some struggles as the game went on, but he made the save that helped his team win the game, and it was a big one. He’s been called the best teammate in the league many times, so for him to get a win like this is big.

+8.4 Straight Jacket: Steve Holmes did something I’m not sure anyone else ever has done. He blanked Kieran McArdle. McArdle got 2 assists but he did not score a single goal. That’s a tremendous feat and it earned him the player of the game.

+7.4 Ice Man: Marcus Holman with the game winner and just a simple team celebration. The Denver defense got caught in a slide and left Holman almost wide open and he just made a quick deposit. It was a big goal as at that point it felt like Denver had all the momentum.

+6.0 Firing Squad: Connor Buczek was one of the few bright spots for Florida, and Florida’s offense played its best in this game when it went through him. Still if you get a chance to watch him shoot it’s worth the price of admission. He has a howitzer. His shot can make a goalie look like he is playing freeze tag.

+2.2 New York State of Mind: Florida scored 6 of the last 7 in this game to make a very lopsided game look a little closer, it was 19-8 only a few short moments into the 4th.

-7.5 Bad Announcing: People on twitter love to whine about LSN any time it has a tech problem. I can get over those pretty quickly, and will give the network some more time before I freak out. But some of the announcing for broadcasts has been unacceptable. It needs to be well done for the league to work and LSN to charge for games. Some of the guys in the booth need to do more research on their matchup before the game. Put some effort and passion into it.

-9.5 Failure to Launch: Florida, Do better, be better. You played like you thought you couldn’t win so why try… You’re better than that. SO much better than that. We just want to see it.

Week 4 Stock Locks:

With 5 games on tap we will see an OT game and a game that is a blowout by 7+ goals. We might also see the Thompson brothers for the first time this season as their Swarm season is over, however they did take an extra week off last year and might do so again.

We get our first weekday game as the Bayhawks and Cannons face off on Thursday night. This game will be worth watching as I predict a very close finish. Bayhawks +1 as they are at home.

1st Win: The Rattlers travel to that same Cannons team on short rest Saturday evening, while the Blaze host the Outlaws. One of these two teams will get its first win of the season, but not both. Both come into the game as underdogs as I have both Rochester and Atlanta at -1.5.

With a short slate of games last week we didn’t get to see much for rookies, that changes this week and we see some impact from some youngsters. 4+ points for a rookie, 8+ for a veteran and 2.5+ Penalty minutes for Brian Spallina are all on tap.

There you have it. Make your trades, send me my fees.
