Because there are tons of those already.

I don’t know what a Tier 3 player means, nor do I subsrcibe much value to that denominational structure. Players can improve once they get to college. I’ve seen it happen too many times to buy into that mentality.

I had a friend start playing as a soph in HS. Eventually he was Hofstra’s starting LSM. We only got a varsity team our Jr year. How is a kid like that supposed to get noticed? My friend got lucky because our HS coach was plugged in to the LI scene, even though we were in MA.

It’s also about the experience. Playing against kids from all over the country is fun and helps grow the game. Sure, it has a cost associated to it, but if you have to choose between 2 recruiting camps or 1 recruiting camp and this, I’d go with the latter. Just because it would be more fun. And isn’t that really the point of playing lax?

It will be like a kids “lax fest” where lot of tier three players who love the game will attend, but only a select few of the top players will show. Plus, this “bring-any-team-you-want” format will not attract older HS players unless they’re desperate to get noticed because…you guessed it…they haven’t been noticed yet. THINK ABOUT IT. Graduating seniors are done with high school and older tier one players (rising seniors) are not forking out big bucks to travel to be seen unless they haven’t been seen yet. Save your money!

I’m from SoCal, and we were the only team not from the Northeast, so while we were the only team staying in the athlete village, it was still a great time (it was even more fun because we won the tournament!). I highly recommend teams go to Golden Goal if they have the chance, and this event seems like a great opportunity.
