New 2014 World Lacrosse Championships Video

While the vast majority of my time out in Denver this Summer was spent working with Thailand Lacrosse, and making sure our first trip to the FIL World Lacrosse Championships was a success (it was!), I also caught a LOT of lacrosse games off the beaten path. England Versus Israel

This was a superb game. England and Israel had both just lost in the quarterfinals, and this game decided who would play in the 5th/6th place game. Why is this game so important? Because the Blue Division historically only has six teams, so making the 5/6 game means a Blue Division spot in the next World Lacrosse Championships. If Israel won, England would drop out. If England wins, they stay in. Add in the fact that the 2018 games in Manchester, England, and this game gets even more intense:

Ireland Versus New Zealand

I really enjoyed the Ireland – New Zealand tilt. It was a physical game, with plenty of goals, and lots of back and forth play. The Irish style of play can only be described as controlled chaos, and some of the stuff they came up with was truly creative. New Zealand looked really solid as well, and they play with a sense of reckless abandon that gives me high hopes for their future as a program. Ireland took the victory in this game, and I would love to see a rematch in 2018:

World Lacrosse Championships Video – HAKA

Before lacrosse games, New Zealand Lacrosse performs the Haka, a traditional Maori (native New Zealander) ceremony. It is intense, and meant as a sign of respect for their opponent. At the same time, it also serves to stir up the atmosphere. You’re well aware that a tough game lies ahead:
