Major League Lacrosse Comes To New York City

Earlier today I noted that the Long Island Lizards were changing their name to the New York Lizards, and that they would be adding some neon green into their color scheme. Now more news is emerging about the re-branding of this original MLL franchise, and we’ve learned that the Lizards will play TWO professional lacrosse games in the Big Apple, New York City!

The two NYC games will be played at Icahn Stadium, on Randall’s Island, this Summer. Randall’s Island is located between Manhattan and Queens, and is accessible by car, foot, and MTA bus. I said Icahn could be a great place for lacrosse when I said I’d put an MLL team in Brooklyn. Looks like the Lizards beat me to it!

The Lizards will still play the majority of their games at Hofstra’s Stadium, but if NYC does well this season, it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
