Music Monday: V-Day Hangover

Editor’s Note: Please welcome Nate Fritts to Lacrosse All Stars! After spending a lot of time with Nate on the Rhino Lacrosse Camp Tour a couple summers back, we quickly came to respect his passion for all things music and immediately knew he would be our man for Music Monday. Nate hales from Portland, Oregon, played at Bowdoin College (NESCAC) in Maine, and now resides in Boston, MA where he researches concussions and brain diseases when he’s not laxing.

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, as always bringing new blossoming love to some and sending others plummeting to the ground. Regardless, this installment of Music Monday brings you a couple of new songs to get on board with that have one thing in common: love. Yes, the second one is a stretch. Besides the artist’s name, it has little to do with love unless you apply it that way…just roll with it.

Bad Rabbit – “Fall In Love”

Let me have the pleasure of introducing Boston’s own Bad Rabbit, a relatively young and eclectic band that has torn up the Boston Music Awards in recent years. “Fall In Love” is a single that Bad Rabbits just recently released and is a great starting point to get familiar with the band. It’s just a post-Valentine’s Day rocker that brings some serious funk, similar to Robert Randolph and The Family Band (who if you don’t know…you need to). This one also comes with a legitimate music video (definitely beats the artists dancing around in front of a green screen for four minutes, at least in my opinion) complete with all the puppy love and implied heartbreak you can ask for.

Y LUV – “Keep It Rollin (Gazzo Remix)”

Don’t get excited for the music video on this one, but the remix on Y LUV’s “Keep It Rollin” goes out for those who need a post-Valentine’s pick-me-up or a motivator to keep pushing through the beginning of lax season (does anyone need more motivation for such an amazing time of year?). The original version of this song, released in 2011, already had a nice electro-dance feel going for it and the remix spices things up with a lot more house elements. The result is a mood-boosting anthem prime for lax warm ups and late night dance sessions (boom boom room anyone?).
