Watch Out Quint, Wheniwasakid & Joenandez Are Going Big

We’ve got some great news to share with you today and it all has to do with the man, the myth, the legend: Quint Kessenich. You see, we appreciate Quint. If he wasn’t here for the lacrosse community, who would be? But just as every aspect of life changes, so do the needs of LaxNation. Quint has set a standard, and now Team LAS will help it evolve.

Part 1: Broadway Joe Strides a Mile High

Our very own Joenandez is in a plane right now headed to Denver, Colorado for the MCLA Final Four. This is big deal for Joe for two reasons:

1) He’s afraid of flying. Okay, I made that one up. Truth is this is his first much deserved vacation in a long time. What better place to spend it than in Denver for the MCLA tourney? Those were Joe’s thoughts exactly.

2) Joe is revolutionizing the practice of lacrosse commentary along with tens of others who are hashtagging Twitter like mad. Personally, I like to call Joenandez “Twit-Quint” or TQ for short, but that’s just me. Now he is going to have to prove is Quintasticness. (Consider that term coined.)

Joenandez will be live tweeting from the LaxAllStars Twitter account giving those who can’t be in Denver his unique perspective on the atmosphere there. Be sure to check it out!

Also, don’t forget, you can follow all the live MCLA touney action by using the #MCLA09 hashtag.

Part 2: Wheniwasakid Mashes Interwebs With Lacrosse, Makes NCAA History

Yep, you heard it here first. As if he hadn’t already, Wheniwasakid is going big time.

He’ll be on location at the Middlebury vs. Cortland NCAA Div. III semifinal game this Sunday. Better yet, he’ll be commentating for the live webcast. (i.e. Giving Mr. Q. Kessenich a run for his money!)

Here’s a little Q&A with him about the big gig:

Wheniwasakid: I hope I become the next Quint Kessenich… except with people actually liking me.

Striding Man: Can i quote you on that?!
W: Haha. People do hate on Quint, although I don’t think he’s bad at all. But I am open to a Quint-Connor rivalry. Could be intense!

S: Do you think Quint is a great commentator or the greatest commentator?
W: I actually like what he has to say for the most part. He does use phrases like worm burner though… And also Matt Ward is good, but way too conservative for my tastes.

S: So, how are you going to be better? How are you going to go down in history?
W: Right now, Quint is the end all be all of lax color analysts. I’m no All-American. I didn’t play at Hopkins and I’m not part of the top tier lax fraternity, but I will bring an accessibility level that will engage long time players and first timers alike. Or at least that is what I will strive to do. I think Quint tries to do that as well, but it just comes down to personal style.

S: Are you saying you have a better personal style than Quint “The Man” Kessenich?

W: In the end, that will be up to the viewers and networks. He has a LOT more experience than I do though and a lot of name recognition. To unseat Quint would be near impossible, but why not try? Maybe in a couple years people will refer to me as the Stevenson of announcing.
