It’s only fall ball, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for some excellent fall ball video! BHSVideoDad is back at it, and covers the big boys from D1 as they play a fall event in Kezar Stadium at the 2013 Fall Classic in San Francisco, CA.
Big thanks need to go out to Blackfeet Lacrosse for hooking me up with the mini pita for this week’s stick trick video. The Crossover will help you out with your hand eye coordination, and as always help you develop soft hands.
Chris Langton (Melrose, MA), a former standout lacrosse player for Cornell University, has been named to the US Bobsled team as push athlete. He joins 10 others as push athletes and joins his brother, Mike, on the team. Mike was a push athlete in 2010 for the US and was a member of the 2013 World Champion team. Three pilots were also named to the team, round the group out at 14 members.
Brown hosted both the Sankofa Lacrosse Alliance “Ambassadors” team, as well as a team of English National squad hopefuls for three one hour scrimmages. See the excellent photos below from Greg, and expect much more on this interesting event early next week.
The LXM PRO is in Atlanta, GA this weekend as Maverik United tries to even the all-time series with Team STX at three games apiece. I’m assuming you can do basic math, but if you can’t, the above means Mav is 2-3, while STX is 3-2. Most of the games between these two squads have been relatively tight, and both teams are capable of winning on any given day. So what will be the deciding factors in Saturday’s 6:15pm tilt?
Last week our Forum Friday was about what would to choose for a wooden shaft. This week, we’re continuing the wood theme, but moving on to lacrosse heads! It’s time to look at traditionally strung wood heads.
Did you miss The Lacrosse Show last night? It was a REALLY good one! We had Carlo Sunseri on as a guest so we obviously spent a good amount of time talking video games! We also hit up the NLL and PLPA collective bargaining agreement, England’s tour of the US, different approaches to fall ball, as well as Maverik’s potential rise (and the Pride of Westchester).
Get your Halloween costume ready… It’s contest time at Lacrosse All Stars again!
The world famous box lacrosse Stadium in Radotin (Czech Republic) is being torn down, but don’t worry too much, because if we know the Radotin crew as well as we think we do, it will be back, and better than ever! The video above shows the turf through the years, while focusing on the Ales Hrebesky Memorial champions of years past.
Today I will show you a new pocket, inspired by an abundance of scrap string and my forever growing needs for a quicker release. This drop top features 2 strings running along the top of the scoop extremely tight. As always, the goal is to avoid the dreaded ball and plastic click and keeping everything symmetrical, in this asymmetrical traditional pocket.
Starting at $125, the Nike Huarache 4 LX lacrosse cleat is available in seven solid base material colors, plus for an extra few bucks, seven “chroma” colors that make the NIKEiD customizer extra fun to play with too.
Jimmy Lewis is, in my humble opinion, the greatest lacrosse player I know of. I had the luck and honor of being coached by his brother, John Lewis (an Adelphi legend himself) back in high school, so I may be perpetually biased when it comes to holding the Lewis family in such high regard.
Welcome to an epic #TraditionalThursday post! This one is chock full of info, photos, tips, questions, and more. Buckle up the old leather seatbelt, tighten your sidewalls, and get that spool of cross lace ready!
GetBenched has put up three amazing videos featuring Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL). The MILL started up in 1987, and is the predecessor to the NLL we all currently know. There was another NLL back in the 70s, which eventually folded before the MILL came into existence. This stuff is pure vintage box lacrosse! Jofa helmets and spandex everywhere!
After years of injury recovery, UVA alum Ken Clausen returned to the playing field for the Denver Outlaws as they scrimmaged the Denver University Pioneers last weekend at the Colorado Lacrosse Showcase. His teammate, Mack Bocklet, gave him a shout out on Twitter for the successful return. Clausen is also the co-founder of Lacrosse Mustache Madness, a fundraising campaign for the HEADstrong Foundation, which helps families affected by blood cancers.
Please welcome Shendelle Oliver back to LAS! Shendelle keeps up filled in on all things Australia Lacrosse, and has been a friend of the LAS nation since before LAS even existed! It’s time to check in on the progress that the Aussies are making as their prepare for the World Lacrosse Championships in 2014.
As the Polish Lacrosse Leagues 1 & 2 pick up speed, it’s starting to become clear who has the upper hand. We’ll also take a look at the distances our teams are traveling to play lacrosse. Talk about sacrifice to Grow The Game! Watch out for the game MVP’s to make an impact in Denver next year.
Scotty Komer is a professional box lacrosse goalie, which means he is from Canada. Being from Canada, it is likely that he played quite a bit of hockey in addition to all that lacrosse. Seeing as Komer looks nothing but natural as the goalie in the above Coke Zero commercial (aside from all the goals he let in), we’d say he definitely played some puck as a kid.
Last year was a very exciting year in Division 3 men’s lacrosse, with Stevenson winning their first ever championship. Aurora College in Colorado made their first NCAA tournament, and won a game. RIT beat Cortland with a hidden ball trick, and Salisbury was finally dethroned as the most dominant team in the South, if only for a season. As fall ball and training continues to roll, here’s a look at some of the top teams from last year, as well as a couple potential dark horses for 2014.
Harvard hosted England Lacrosse last night in an exhibition scrimmage, and already has video highlights up. They also played against St. John’s and Army this past weekend, and there is a quick highlight video from that day as well.
