For this week’s tweet, Paul Carcaterra drops some knowledge on leadership, specifically on how to be a good senior leader.
This week’s Traditional Thursday is inspired by reading the first couple chapters of Greg Rose’ book and watching Connor Wilson’s tear drop top string tutorial. I’ve been stringing a ton of traditional pockets lately and haven’t really gotten the chance to string a mesh pocket. When I did decide to go back to mesh, I naturally thought about doing something where I can add a traditional touch to the pocket because, why not? At first glance, you will notice that…
The LXM PRO TOur has been a whirlwind of change and evolution so far, and some people, especially back East, seem to be a little confused as to a number of the details, and even the overall story. To remedy this, the LXM, in conjunction with Adrenaline (an LXM and LAS sponsor), has put together an episodic series of videos which will detail the Tour, and give viewers an in-depth look at what is going on. To get even more in-depth, we sat down with LXM PRO and Adrenaline All-Star, Xander Ritz, and peppered him with questions about the Tour and the video series.
A new sponsor is emerging for one of the professional lacrosse leagues… can you guess which league we’re talking about, and which sponsor we’re hinting at? Here is a little “extra” info, to get you guessing!
The 2014 lacrosse season is really just around the corner, and to get you even more excited, we got some more highlights from Mike Perrino. Last week he wowed us with goals on goals, and this week he has added in some big hits, some great face offs, and a bunch more top notch goals… it’s 2013 in a nutshell!
The 10,000 hour rule is an interesting concept. Malcolm Gladwell raised the idea a number of times in the book Outliers, and the theory basically states than any “master” of a particular discipline has put in at least 10,000 hours of dedicated work to learn and perfect their skill set within that discipline. While the exact number of hours is still up for debate, and further statistical analysis is needed, I am confident that the overall point stands: The truly great put in the hours and the effort in order to be truly great.
Did you enjoy Hopkins destroying their alumni team, by an ungodly almost 30 to 2? Looking for a slightly more competitive fall video? Hopkins vs Fairfield has you covered! YouTube user huntva is killing it with fall video. Thank you!
Knowledge is power, and Greg Rose isn’t afraid to share his with you. Stringing Revolution delivers the ultimate foundation for stringing lacrosse sticks.
Harvard Lacrosse put up some highlights from their Black – White inter-squad scrimmage, and it’s a great primer for their upcoming scrimmage with the English National Team hopefuls. The Harvard – England game will air LIVE on Harvard’s YouTube channel on October 22nd at 7PM, and that will serve as a great primer for the Brown vs England vs The Ambassadors game in Providence on October 25th.
The LXM Pro tour has had a busy few weeks, with two events in back to back weekends. We had a team in Utah to catch the first game, and our guys snagged two awesome pictures of LXM players doing the LaxAllStars pose.
One of our readers sent us an email with three awesome spottings, and over the next few weeks you’ll get to see all of them. To start us off, we have a spotting from the TV show Pretty Little Liars.
Providence College is currently one of many D1 lacrosse programs working and hoping to make the jump, and we got a great look inside the PC program, to see how they are going about making change and improvements. Tommy Gilligan shot the PC campus and their alumni game (awesome photos below!), and CW got to speak with Head Coach Chris Gabrielli.
Gordon Corsetti discusses how we are all just temporary stewards of lacrosse. It’s a permanent game, and we are temporary, so how can we impact the sport we all love? Gordon provides some great direction, and lays out The Tenets of the Temporary Lacrosse Steward.
Did you miss this video of the recent Johns Hopkins alumni game? If you did, it would be a shame, if we didn’t have it here for you to take in! But we do, so don’t fret.
More excellent fall ball highlights out of Vermont? You know it. First we had UVM vs the Hill Academy, then we got UVM vs Bishop’s (Canada), and now we get Vermont vs Holy Cross. I’ll take it any day of the week.
Roll Gate took on the Brooklyn Dodgers in the noon NYC ULAX game thus past Sunday and we got some pretty goals, and a couple of beauty saves. The goalies were “on” in all three games this weekend and were the definite stars of Sunday. A couple of Lafayette alumni also had big offensive days, and these guys notched a couple of sweet men’s league fall ball goals.
The year was 1975. The NLL had just started up and the Philadelphia Wings were the most popular team in this brand new professional sports league. Greats like Jim Wasson, John Grant Senior, and the Lloyd brothers played in the league, the helmets didn’t have face masks and the sticks were all made out of wood. The shorts were also truly short.
Crosse Studios, in-conjunction with game developer, Big Ant, announced Lacrosse 14 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC. Lacrosse 14 will be funded through a month long “all-or-nothing” Kickstarter Campaign. We got in contact with Carlo Sunseri, of Crosse Studios, to get some more info on this project.
The Iroquois are 2-1 agains the US in Bowhunter Cup games, and 3-0 against the US at the WILC. The Iroquois won last year’s Bowhunter Cup 12-10. The Nationals are sending out a relatively seasoned group of players, and they will have plenty of offensive fire power. The US is sending out a younger team, with good box pedigrees.
This week, myself and the rest of the Vandal lacrosse team are headed to Missoula Montana for the first fall ball tournament of the year. Naturally, in honor of getting back on the field, this week’s trick is called the Missoula Movement. As Stick Trick Saturday moves on, the tricks are going to get a little more complicated. As always, break down the trick into different parts, then put it all together. Also keep being patient and have fun!
