I love an overtly physical defenseman! Any good team can use a guy who is looking to bring the heat on hits, and when the guy can also play solid one on one defense, use his stick to move the ball, AND has a good lacrosse IQ, you have to think you’ve found a winner.
Oh my holy goon-fest. You know it’s bad when every reaction is, “oooahhh.” That was Jack Lingo playing in the OC tourney. They had some top names on the squad like Bradman and Harrison, but also some real meatsticks, like Josh Rachman. Bringing the pain in a serious way. Ouch. Ok, now that the pain train has left the station, let’s all face it together: Summer is over. Sad face. I know, I know, you’re as bummed as I am….
The Chesapeake Bayhawks just won their second consectutive Major League Lacrosse championship, and their league-best fifth overall title. If they don’t deserve photo of the week honors, I don’t know who does. In fact, they get a double dose, first with this gem from Cascade’s Instagram and then this awesome t-shirt design the Hawks created.
A few weeks ago, spotter Ben Halleran shared this Hyundai Equus commercial with us on Facebook. A dad and son can be seen playing catch in their front yard at the 0:16 mark, right when the car drives by and distracts the dazzled dad…
So what happened at the MTV VMAs? At least *N’SYNC reunited right?…Although summer may be fading out, world-renowned 23 year old DJ Avicii is set to release his new album in September.
With the 2013 season officially over (fall ball may fall in 2013, but we see it as practice for 2014), we are taking some time to reminisce in all things 2013. When we read Michael’s post on the Top 10 Warrior Lacrosse Gloves, a question came to mind – who is the hottest manufacturer right now?
Today marks the end of my summer as I start fall classes once again at Boise State. This week I thought I’d share some tracks from or featuring artists that have passed away. So rest in peace summer and these following artists. Their music will live on.
The 2013 CityLax Southampton Shootout went off on Saturday, August 24th without a hitch. Teams showed up ready to play, the weather was beautiful, the fields were cleanly lined and mowed, and the lacrosse atmosphere was ideal!
Sometimes you get lucky and capture a fantastic highlight reel goal in a meaningless Summer game. That really doesn’t make it any less awesome. Glenn Adams (Wesleyan ’06) tucks a behind the back stinger on the crease after dodging through the defense with a flashy double spin move.
When I say a player is the next Brett Queener, one must assume I’m talking about a goalie who makes big saves, but can also run the field, spark transition, and drop the occasional assist, or goal. One has assumed correctly. Hayden Walsh is a 2015 Canadian Keeper who plays for Edge Canada and he LOVES to push the ball upfield… at least that’s what his highlight tape says!
The semifinal highlight videos were excellent. No surprise there! Now we’re on to the Finals, Eric Law’s 9 goal semifinal performance and much, much more. If you didn’t check out the game in person (unfortunately, less than 4,000 people did so), or catch the game on TV the first time around, YouTube has you covered. Phew.
Major League Lacrosse’s Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink has already provided some huge story lines, and great games, and we’ve still got the Finals to go! If you’re not in Philly yourself, check out the game on ESPN2 at 3pm.
In honor of Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend, this Stick Trick Saturday features an stick trick I learned watching the MLL. Kevin Buchanan pulled this one out at the Freestyle competition during All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. Be careful with this one, it could get destructive! Work on those soft hands. This trick will help immensely with hand-eye coordination and hand speed. Keep it up and I will see you next week! P.S. – Before you step outside to give this Stick Trick…
2011 saw the Boston Cannons win their first Major League Lacrosse title, and although it took the team from Beantown a while to grab their first Steinfeld Cup (they’re an original franchise!), when they did, it was special! It took a great game from Jordan Burke in goal, and a heck of a day shooting by Matt Poskay, but the Cannons pulled out the 10-9 win.
HUGE thanks to Xander for the in-depth answers to our questions about Adrenaline! If you’re a small business owner or operator in the lacrosse space, this is a must read!
Earlier this week we put up a video from 2010, featuring a Japan Hidden Ball Trick. The announcers called it the first successful hidden ball trick, but we knew that couldn’t be true. Thanks to Kentaro Shimizu, we now KNOW that the statement was false, because we’ve got video evidence from 2006!
The Lacrosse Network was up in Stowe, VT for the Bitter Lacrosse Stowe Lax Fest, and they put together this killer video on the event. I love the opening segment, which honestly shows the frustration that can go into running an event, but also how the lacrosse community will pull through just about anything to make an event go off.
Major League Lacrosse and Smartlink announced today an interactive fan contest in partnership with the HEADstrong Foundation. The contest, entitled “Shot Towards Success,” will allow fans in attendance during Sunday’s title match at MLL Championship Weekend presented by Smartlink a chance to win monetary prizes for both themselves and for HEADstrong.
On Saturday, August 24th, CityLax will host the fourth annual Southampton Shootout, a one-day charity field lacrosse tournament, held at Southampton High School on the East end of Long Island. The tourney proceeds benefit CityLax directly, and it all goes towards Growing The Game in New York City public schools.
As you know, here at LaxAllStars we are all about Growing the Game. So when I saw this post about new MCLA teams, I immediately was interested to hear what new teams were popping up and how the game was growing at the MCLA level.
