In Sean Christman’s past work for LAS, he has written about Division 3 NCAA lacrosse and the MLL. However, this piece is entirely different. When looking through the Lehigh senior night program, Sean saw something that caught his eye. Senior midfielder Kyle Stiefel was trying out for the Israeli national team.
The US Women’s Lacrosse Team has claimed it seventh world title with a 19-5 win over Canada in the finals of the tournament, which has held in Oshawa, Ontario. The US was up 14-2 at the half and cruised to victory in the second, still outscoring their opponents 5-3. This is the ninth international tournament, and the ninth finals appearance the US women have made.
Joseph Timmons has been involved with the Brooklyn Crescents, a youth lacrosse club in New York City, for five years, and in that time, he has seen the scene change in the five boroughs. His piece below details the humble beginnings of the Crescents, and let’s you get to know this urban lacrosse program a little better.
Are these 15 year old Canadian box lacrosse players better than you? I’m pretty sure they are better than me! This is the Coquitlam Adanacs (British Columbia) Midget A1 team, which currently sits at 19-0-1, with 158 goals for, and 56 goals against.
Editor’s Note: With summer well underway, we wanted to up your weekly dosage of music, so we decided to double our music offering to you. Each Monday, Michael Allen will take the morning detail, and Nate Fritts will continue to knock out the night hours. Everybody wins! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This week’s morning Music Monday (how’s that for alliteration?) features some great songs that I unintentionally discovered in the last week. It shouldn’t matter how we come across music, just so long…
The last time the Chesapeake Bayhawks faced off against the Boston Cannons, the Cannons were 0-3, with the worst season start in franchise history. That game ended in with an overtime victory for the Cannons at Harvard stadium, and would lead to a monumental turn around seeing Boston winning 4 of the next 6 games, putting them back in playoff contention.
Three games on Saturday in Major League Lacrosse, and all come with big implications for the playoff picture. Can Charlotte, Rochester, or New York make a move? Will Denver keep winning? Can Ohio double their win total for the year?
Much ado was made by many in the lacrosse world concerning the return of Casey Powell to Major League Lacrosse last night, and for good reason. The 37 year old superstar has been a force in pro lacrosse (both indoor and outdoor) for years, and Casey showed no signs of slowing down in his 2013 MLL debut, and return to the league, after a brief retirement.
Over on Adrenaline’s website, it has been announced that both Rhamel and Shamel Bratton will be switching teams this weekend. Instead of donning the blue and white of Team STX, they will now be wearing the neon green and grey of Maverik United. To offset this loss of personnel, Davey Emala is being brought in by the boys in blue.

This week, our Tweet of the Week comes from Brodie Merrill, in response to Gary Gait. To be honest, Gait’s tweet was TOTW worthy itself, but Brodie’s just made it even better.
Bend, Oregon is the home of the Bigfoot Summer Bender Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. 2013 was the 3rd year of the tournament’s existence. In each of the previous years, the Bender has seen exponential growth in not only participants in the tournament, but the talent as well.

Colton Raichl was out in Bend, Oregon for the Summer Bender, and will have a tourney recap and full highlight video up tomorrow. For now, enjoy this excellent Behind The Back effort, coming at you from Bend, OR.
In today’s MLL, the culture of consistency has become more vital to an organization’s success than ever before. It’s no longer about assembling the best group of all-star caliber players and throwing them out on the field, it’s about finding personnel that fit a system and are both willing, and able, to stay local, and together, as much as possible.
Joe Walters scored a behind the back goal off a behind the back feed from Jordan MacIntosh. It’s an All-Star highlight, and exactly what one would expect from some of the world’s best.
