It’s a total coincidence, but three of this weekend’s matchups were listed amongst the most interesting games of the year. The one that wasn’t has since become a battle of the top teams in the league, so let’s go ahead and officially declare that one interesting as well. We start off the week with a classic rivalry game in New York City, and a battle to get to (or maintain) a .500 winning percentage; here’s a breakdown of that and everything…
Towards the end of the college season, work picked up to the point that I couldn’t string as much as I’d like to, but now that things are slowing down just a little bit, I’ve found the time to dial just a couple of sticks… here’s a look at some of the heads I’ve been stringing.
This amazing video features the Mississauga Tomahawks playing against the Etobicoke Eclipse in their final season before folding in OLA Jr A lacrosse. John Taveres played for Mississauga, where he took home Rookie of the Year honors in the OLA in 1988.
Editor’s Note: Please welcome Sean Christman to LAS! Sean did a great job of covering D3 this year over on Cac to the Cac, and now he’s looking at some of the potential Top Undrafted MLL Players from this year’s college Seniors! With the collegiate season officially coming to a close, the MLL will be bringing in lots of rookies from the collegiate draft. However, going undrafted doesn’t mean your collegiate career is over (see: Lusby, Eric). Here is a…
The Cannons tried to stay undefeated in Denver, the Hounds sought to ruin Rob Pannell’s homecoming party, Hamilton battled Chesapeake, and the Machine look for their first win of the season against Rochester. What happened?
The LXM PRO swings back into action on Saturday, June 8th in Orange County, California. While the location isn’t a new one (LXM has held numerous events in the OC), the game itself definitely presents a number of new aspects to the LXM, and we’re excited to preview some of these evolutions the Tour will see in 2013.
Congratulations to Claudette Wilmot of Jamaica, the May 2013 Game Grower of the Month.
The 2012-13 Italian Championships have drawn to a conclusion! Saturday the 18th of May, and Sunday the 19th, played host to the finals of the Italian Championship, as well as the FIRST-EVER edition of the Women’s Italian Cup, which was played at the Martelli Stadium in Mantova.
The big news on ESPN, CNN, Fox, Deadspin, and a number of other sources today is the brewing performance enhancing drug scandal in Major Leagues Baseball. What makes me laugh in all this is that people are acting like this is some kind of big surprise… AGAIN.
Wembley Lacrosse Club, located in Perth, Australia, held a memorial day for Liam Davies at their club on Saturday, the 25th May. Liam was a 19 year old Wembley player whose life was taken tragically in January whilst holidaying in Indonesia with some of his teammates.
A couple of Sundays back saw a constant drizzle slowly drench New York City, but that didn’t stop the Public School Athletic League lacrosse championships, which took place at Aviator Sports Complex, in Brooklyn, from going down in a pretty amazing fashion.
As we look back on the 2013 men’s college lacrosse season, one can see why this year was different from the rest. It was the year of the Underdog, and Lance Antoine loves it!
If you’re looking to play in the Salt Shakerz Invitational this Summer in NYC, it’s time to move on that chance NOW! Registration for teams is almost closed, and 16 strong groups of players are all ready to go, and vie for the title.
STX has long been established as a major brand in lacrosse and field hockey. The company also makes golf equipment. And now the Baltimore-based manufacturer is getting into hockey, with their own padding and sticks.
Two recent articles have grabbed the attention of the sports world, and both tackled the subject of yelling and bullying by coaches. The two articles came to VERY different conclusions. One said that all the yelling was ineffective, and amounted to bullying. The other argued that the yelling was actually good for kids, and always has been.
Editor’s Note: Please welcome Nate Fritts to the Lacrosse All Stars! This isn’t his first time on the site of course, we had the pleasure of meeting Nate on the Rhino Lacrosse Camp Tour a couple summers back. Which team is the best in the MLL RIGHT NOW?
As the season wears on, we’ll see whether New York’s new look team can turn into a dominant force in the MLL. One thing we don’t have to wonder is if can Pannell hack it in the MLL… He’s already given us an emphatic “YES” on that one.
In each MLL ad this year, only one or two players are named, and in each ad, the players named no longer play Major League Lacrosse. Paul Rabil’s name is everywhere, so maybe MLL doesn’t use him, but there are lots of active guys in the league right now, and many of them deserve some shine!
