The waves crashing in multiple locations is pretty epic, and the bird eating a fish out of guy’s hand on the beach mid-flight is pretty darn cool. Pumped I got that on video! I even brought two mini-sticks with me to PR, which I had picked up from Throne of String a couple of days before. Always getting a little wall ball in. No excuses!
No more air bubbles in my athletic shoes. I’m tired of popping Nike Air bubbles. 9 times out of 10 the bubbles pop before I wear the shoes out. Sure, it looks cool and feels good early on, but it’s not worth it if I have to shell out extra money for the bubbles and then have to also buy shoes more often. Good for Nike, but bad for me. Air Bubbles are done for this guy.
Playing lacrosse in north Idaho, the weather comes in to play a lot during both the fall and spring season. I would always blame a bad pass on the weather or my bagged out mesh. The best solution I have found to extreme weather conditions is, wax mesh. If you want the best performance out of your wax mesh, East Coast Dyes is what you are looking for.
We’re back with a new Music Monday, on Wednesday, and for this rare Wed morning edition, we’re having a look at rap legend Eminem’s new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. I’m going to go right ahead and say that Eminem was, is (still), and always will be, one of the best rappers in the game. Yes, he’s had some sub-par albums in recent years, but I think that Recovery and especially this new album, which released November 5th, show that he hasn’t lost a step and remains one of the best lyricists and collaborators.
Major League Lacrosse has announced that every team in the league has submitted its 23-Man Protected Roster for 2014. The MLL also sent out the rosters for the 8 teams. Teams are granted a 40-man roster leading into the season, and they can fill those remaining 17 spots with supplemental draft picks, college draft picks, and trades, before the start of the 2014 campaign.
A little less than two weeks ago, we teased you with some quick highlights from a NYC vs. Philadelphia box lacrosse game. This week, we’ve got the full video from Throne of String, and it’s a good one! Plenty of action, and some pretty sweet goals, saves, draws, and even some big hits.
Last week, University of Akron middie Nick Lopez tweeted us an awesome photo of two kids doing ballet while wearing lacrosse helmets and holding lacrosse sticks. I’m no dance expert, but I think those kids are in pretty good lacrosse shooting form!
A few weeks ago, a lacrosse stick was spotted on the TV show New Girl, and the LAS Community made sure we knew about it! Not only did reader Oscar Mendoza send us a photo via the tip line, but our friends at The Lacrosse Network and Throne of String let us know about the spotting as well.
For this week’s Top String Tuesday, I wanted to bring you something special in honor of Veteran’s Day and the good ol’ US of A. Now, I can’t take credit for the creation of this top string. Our very own Michael Allen sent me a photo and suggested it may make a great TST… He was right, obviously, so I wanted to break it down through an easy to follow photo tutorial. I am a visual learner and felt that with the ins and outs of this top string it would be best to stay away from the video this week and just take you through step by step so that you can follow along at your own pace.
As mentioned in a previous Music Monday, Lorne and The Wayhighs would be announcing show soon. They’ve got a pretty awesome event lined up for New Years. Is it too early to start thinking about New Years Eve? Not when we’re talking about the Wayhighs first ever show in Yosemite at the 11th Annual Yosemite Bug New Year’s Party! You and yours are invited to join us for “an all inclusive 2 night party on the border of Yosemite National Park with a…
End Caps, a weekly review from the mind of Mark Donahue. Every weekend he will refresh your memory on what happened over the last 7 or so days. Lacrosse news and junk from the world around us!
LAS Nation, You may notice something different about my stick this week. I am using a piece of POWLAX mesh, customized for the University of Idaho. The guys over at POWLAX sent me this customized piece of mesh after I saw their stuff on Instagram. They make some unreal dye patterns on wax mesh, which seems to be skyrocketing in popularity these days. I love their mesh, keep an eye out for a full review coming soon! I saw this…
Billy Nguyen, of LaxAllStars, breaks down the Surgeon 10 lacrosse head by STX in his latest Gear Review. The review is based on a 10 point scale, see what kind of score Billy thinks it deserves.
The LXM PRO tour is on its latest stop and this weekend they are calling Dallas, TX home. Last week, Maverik United was up a cool 16-10 at the half, but Team STX put a stop to the bleeding with an 8 goal run. It came down to the wire, but Maverik could not pack another one in and Team STX held the shutout in the second half. The 8 unanswered goals were just enough to squeak past Mav U….
We have a very special Forum Friday this week. At LaxAllStars we talk a lot about growing the game, and honestly, we mean it. So when we get a post in the Community Forum saying that a dad needs help picking his son’s first stick, we can’t but lend a helping a hand!
We got a nice little package at LAS HQ a few weeks back with 4 preformed Gonzo Mesh pieces (2 white, 2 glow-in-the-dark). “Gonzo Mesh is a special coated mesh covered in a secret recipe of ingredients that makes it superior to traditional soft or hard mesh pieces in every aspect. Traditional mesh pieces bag out and become inconsistent and unusable in the elements. Wax mesh pieces tent to lost their wax coating in a rapid fashion.”
Welcome back to another awesome #traditionalthursday. This week, I answer a reader question from Jeffery Barber. He writes, I want to try a six-leather traditional in an Evo 4. It has the cut-outs in the scoop for six leathers, but only has four anchor holes in the throat of the head. Do you have any tips on how to anchor the two additional leathers? Well, fortunately for you Jeffery, I happen to have an Evo 4 laying around. Just had…
At the beginning of October, we showed you Brian Langtry’s makeshift wall ball wall. This week, we show you how John Grant Jr. plays “wall” ball.
Before Major League Lacrosse, the USCLA was by far and away the top post-collegiate field lacrosse league in the world. Teams ranged from up and down the East Coast, and the number of legendary players to grace the USCLA is unrivaled.
Since the fall ball season is wrapping up, I figured it would be a good time to reach out to see how the boys at Brown University are doing. Brown hosted some pretty unique scrimmages this fall, let’s see what’s going on with the Bears.
